Viv Richards in IPL

Viv Richards could have been in the league of his own in IPL (or T20s in general) ... One bouncer per over rule, better bats, better protective equipment, relatively short boundaries in this format, ...

Viv Richards = the king of LOI cricket :hatsoff:

The GOAT.

The kind of player who would have gotten 30 crores for one season.

Franchises would die to have someone of his caliber.

Abdv is what we call a poor man's Richards.

ABD is the nice guy version of Viv Richards. Consistent and explosive both but attitude wise humble.

I watch cricketers to see their cricketing skill not their mannerism.

On field and off field antics in front of camera don't determine a persons' character, the most humble guy in front of camera can be the biggest piece of **** in reality.

This forum is now full of trolls who know zilch about cricket and only care about irrelevant stuff. The very reason I am inactive these days (apart from updating my Dinda list). Not a 'cricket' forum anymore.

Every T20 batsman is a Viv Richards these days. Kya qtiyappa faila rakha hai. Whether he played with protective gears or not doesn't matter. He would be just another random West Indian mercenary in this T20 era and not anything special like he was in 80s for that era. In this era, currently, there are several West Indian mercenaries like him.

In that regard, AB deserves to be rated highly by all accounts, undoubtedly more skillful than Kohli and Rohit both.

And every bowler must be a Marshall these days (or every opener a Tendulkar the LOI opener, every wk batsman a Gilchrist, every leg spinner a Warne, and so on for that matter)

No. It's the Level of batting that has changed with T20 cricket.

Irrelevant. If the level has changed every bowler would be a Marshall too. Top skills are top skills.

Richards if playing today, would benefit from todays laws (including DRS), bats, shorter boundaries, protective gear, and so on!

For e.g. he could have the record for hitting most 6 6s, which is almost unheard of, in an over today, taking T20 batting to the next level!

PS Look what he did to India in a game in 1987 -> link

His 189 against Eng -> Link (look at the last wkt partnership for e.g. and the contribution of #11)

King Viv was the best ODI bat of his time beyond any question, and arguably the best of all time. He was so far ahead of his time that his achievements look great even in the 2020s. Moreover, he had a much better "winner" attitude than Choker ABDV (who was a great talent but mentally weak)

Nash, in this age of data analysis teams would have figured out a way to contain him like anybody else.

With all technology how many teams were able to contain devilliers, not a lot,viv with twice the power and ceiling would be too hot to handle,a tall brute force with one of the best techniques against Both pace and spin,he would have made mockery of current bowlers
