Yes agree. If he clicks great, if not there isnt much riding on his wicker these days. Except that left hand and right hand combination is better so Pant seems a better option. Has to be seen how good Pant is with the new white ball.

Pant can open if Imad wasim bowls. I am sure he will be used there because of Rohit.

Don't think this will be a one match decision. There are doubts on Pant handling the new ball if it is swinging.

Yes. But with this new approach a boundary or two by him is a good start. If he clicks even better. Worth taking a chance given his poor form and less dependency on him

I don't think that's needed, because he is showing that intent- he did in the England T20Is 

Problem however is that is not something that comes to him naturally. He needs to retire from T20Is. The brisk skilful accumulator has been phased out of T20s unfortunately for him, now it is hit out or get out.

if he takes the place of Hooda though? I would much rather have Hooda, who is more effective at hitting from the word go and can bowl a bit

Unless Kohli is injured, he surely is going to be in the playing 11. 

 With Rohit, Pant, Rahul, Sky , Pandya almost certain of being in playing 11,  Hooda if in squad will compete with Jadeja or DK. Both I think are better than Hooda for different reasons.

 

Kohli opening is a good option. Give him freedom to attack from the word go. Faliure shouldn't hurt much.

Accommodate the most out of form has been batter in the most vital position? He should be playing against Zimbabwe to get form back . Sending him as opener is like happy days for opposition . Easy target . Shaheen will look like god against sitting ducks Kohli Rohit and rahul .

How can a player this poor and completely washed up, still be considered a part of the side.

 

I remember Pant/Gill couldnt make it to the team a couple of years back and was dropped and they were performing better than Kohli when given chances back then.
