How does Narendra Modi Stadium compare to MCG as a world class stadium ?

MCG has an unparalleled legacy.

 

But it is also a world class stadium with a 100K odd capacity.

 

How does the new Narendra Modi stadium compare to MCG visually and in terms of amenities ?

Eden looks more pleasing & aesthetic of all Indian stadiums.   MCA Pune a rare open stadium in India during Night games is a sight bit like Edgbaston. 

It's unfair to compare a first world stadium with an Indian one but with no Pan Bahar ads & better seat colors Modi stadium will looks impressive too. 

I am sure facilities  would be top shelf overall.  Just don't like the look of it.

Ahmedabad m stadium has too many bright rangoli  colors and looks gaudy.  MCG looks classy.

I have been to Namo Stadium not MCG..It is overhyped nothing like Australian,English stadium..BCCI babus equate world class stadium with capacity only..LOL. Namo Stadium is in congested area,there is no parking facilites available outside for 1L people, you feel you are part of massive chaos before entering the stadium and if the match is in summer than God save you. Also no shades in such a giant stadium to protect spectators from heat during day time. Look at the scenes of MCG stadium outside the entrance..People are dancing in groups, enjoying before and after the match like anything. Sure the facilities for players are top notch at Namo stadium (Gym,dressing rooms) as Ashwin said in one of the video but hardly anything to boast about.

I have seen most of my live matches at Eden and one at Kotla. The public transport outside eden is pretty good; although for parking , you have to get some sort of sticker and its complicated. Kotla is well connected to the metro (as well as eden). The atmosphere in Eden gardens is electric depending on match situation.

The MCG is in my bucket list, but dont know if and when I visit Gujrat as a tourist, there would be a match going on.

 

I am always interested to hear personal opinion, has any poster visited the NM stadium?

I like stadiums with open green spaces like many in NZ and SA. 
 

MCG and NaMo, while world class stadiums with great facilities for players, appear more like huge concrete structures designed to fit in as many people as possible.

People in India have their own metrics (usually related to quantity like more capacity), I am more focused on quality - green spaces, less capacity giving more space to audiences, etc. 

 

I would remove some of the ugly stands at many of the stadiums in India to reduce capacity (ticket price can be raised) and offer more comfortable environment to be there and enjoy the game.

Mcg is an iconic stadium. It’s like Lords, Eden Gardens etc. can’t even compare.

 

Unless NaMo stadium is state of the art with closed dome to prevent from rain and other technological upgrades, MCG any day for me. C’mon let’s not go Indians love phoren maal route, you must be kidding yourself to compare the 2.

Joke of a comparison. MCG with the legacy of 169 years is compared to a nothing concrete junk named Modi. Laughable, MCG anyday over most Indian Stadiums.

Besides this is the first stadium I see named after someone living lol. It would be so classlessly boastful if it were not so gaudy and pathetic lol they make a bright tasteless not comfortable for the masses type stadium with rangoli colors and name it nadendra modi stadium, may be the man himself had a hand in it and enjoyed the adulation. “Funtastic big sige stadum on my name.. NaMo (formerly Motera) is fabulous stadium too, one of the best in the world, better than anything in India. Other stadiums feel cramped relatively … Only other consideration for me is Dharamsala for its location!

I prefer the older test match venues in India - Eden, Wankhede, Chinnaswamy, Chepauk. They all have their own character and legacy. 

 

Having said that there's something very beautiful about the venues in the Southern Hemisphere. 

 

Whether it's the WACA(now Optus), Hagley Oval or the Wanderers - cricket in the Southern Henisphere is different- general lack of spin, supportive of pace and bounce etc.
