Best cricket analyst in India

I would look for someone-

-Has to be a International cricketer with decent fame ( we as a nation may not be ready to take opinion from non-cricketers )

-analyzes format and conditions perfectly

we have too many analysts/commentators currently who cannot differentiate formats.. most of them would have rooted for Dhawan and like the fact that Dhawan scores 400+ in every IPL but oblivious of relevance of such numbers.. same pundits like Pandey, Iyer over SKY/ Sanju

-ability to share insights specific to formats..

this is where most pundits fall flat on their face.. we don't hear any insights from them and most of them don't even bother to remember past stats or where the game is headed

-Not suckup to star players

Give them respect but share your point in a pragmatic way

Right now I can only think of Robit Uthappa.. anyone else ?

You need foreign analysts as they don’t have biases … Indian cricketers are more useful to identify upcoming talents as they would have more information on them

They all have bias. Irfan is okay.  Sir Aggy is oay. Jack of all trade master of none Harsha is very poor in this regard.  L Siva for all his cringeworthy commentary offers decent analysis.

In India, analysts/commentators don't even ask tough questions and focus more on sweeping things under the carpet.

GG tries to do that but is probably unpopular because of that

if the same insights come from a desi cricketer it will carry more weight and will spread better among the masses and perhaps can put pressure on other analysts to notice that

yes GG does that but he focuses a lot more on open criticism than sharing insights

Oh man I can’t take the cheap cringe of aakashvani. Loud nonsense without any substance.  His vaani is as bakhwash as his batting technique

even some of the madrarassa chhap are better at least they speak directly and very clear.

I really enjoying some posts by some posters on here in regards to Indian Cricket, in particular @express bowling

Very grateful that he takes the time to inform all of us on here. In particular me, as I am very far removed from India and Indian Cricket, esp more so as I dont follow IPL.

I enjoy Cricbuzz when they analyze each match when they have a foreign commentator as they almost always "call a spade, a spade". They will say it as it is. Every Indian Commentator just performs too much lip service to under performing elder players.

Agarkar and GG are the only ones, maybe add Parthiv Patel and RP as well at times.
GG is a bit on the criticizing side, often shares his opinion short and to the point (like the teachers of 80's/90's for whom beating kids was a necessary part of curriculum). If one can look beyond that then his views are sharp.
Agarkar expresses his views with a poker face, not biased at anyone's favour and mostly sticking to what it is. He neither praises someone too much nor criticise, pretty balanced and non-controversial.

Parthiv and RP are good, when they don't have to talk about their friends.

Uthappa has just started, have to see, so far he is good.

He called out the non-selection of Sarfaraz, asking what’s the point of Domestics? SMAT is used to scout talent for IPL for low-cost picks, National selection for all formats - IPeeYell
