Is DK being persisted with due to Pandya's inability to hit quality pace bowling?

It could be one of the reasons. Pandya is struggling to score off the hard lengths. DK, despite not clicking yet, can score off that length.

DK shat his pants when 2 off 2 was required and against SA, he wasn't able to rotate  strike when Surya was going ballistic at the other end. Due to his cartoonish darpok innings, we were 20 short in the end. Knowing Dravid Baba and his stubbornness, Ashwin will play but DK has to go.

Btw, when Pant was played we were seeing threads where he was not a good T20 player

It's all about the conditions. Did anyone expected Virat to be so consistent and play that miraculous innings against Pak. No? His SR has been 140 plus this tournament which is excellent in these conditions. He relishes Australia. Pant who has been poor in T20 has good record in Aus. TM should have payed him for atleast a match. May be he would have found his hitting zone. DK who was hammering everything in Ind has been made to look like fool here. 

 

Dravid Baba needs to use his brain which he he has none atm.

DK could have been played up the order against NED, where we saw the usual line up batting 

 

DK has basically batted in 2 games (Pak & SA), and was run out against BD.

If they are hell bent on using DK in every match don't leave him for end overs. I think Ashwin is handling the pressure much better. He is a proper batsman. That way Dk's wicket won't be that much of a problem. Send him at 5 ahead of Pandya, Axar, Ashwin.  Ideall Axar doesn't deserve a spot given that he hardly bowls, doesn't do anything with bat

DK failed agint Pakistani is fine.  Lots of pressure. But his failure against SA is hunting me.  Run a ball 30 would be great and our score could have 150.

More than the batting my problem is his keeping

 

1) Two close run outs were missing. He had all 3 stumps in his sight. Remember the last ball of Pakistan match. If he had hit it directly there was no 2. 

 

2) Two stumpings missed against Holland

 

3) Two catches missed against BD.

 

I don't deny he pulled off great saves.  Saved atleast 2 boundaries. But that is something you have to do regardless.

That was a high bouncec wicket. Unless he is Buttler, Kohli he is not going to flat bat a bouncer above his height. He just had to feed the strike to SKY. Once SKY gets out he can take over. Basic common sense. His nature if fidgety. Once the 19th over was complete against Pakistan. DK started becoming restless. He got up from the chair in his usual fidgety manner went somewhere.

About DK going somewhere.  It is cold there and Someone mentioned that they do it to warm the body.  DK run to dressing room and come to do warm up. His innings against SA Was bad and I hope he does better

Everone wants him to do better. But i have a feeling each match he is feeling the pressure even more. He is desperate to contribute. He started okay against BD. Probably that was the match where he could have made a quick 40 or even 50.  Ended up getting run out. But real problem was him dropping Litton Das twice.

Pandya struggles against hard length 140+ pace but that is a foolish reason to play DK for. He couldn’t score a single of frickin Nawaz  and has been a liability in the field. Actually Rahul should move down if that’s the case as he plays pace well. Open with Kohli or Pant with Rohit.

His age is taking over now.  If he is just there to play 10 balls. Then pant can do it also and pant will bring better keeping at least I hope he does.

Only couple of options left. Play Pant and see how he goes in the zimbabwe match give DK a break.  Bring back DK if Pant fails. Other options back Pant all the way.

Another wild option which is to play both Pant and DK. Axar bowled 1 over against Pakistan 2 overs against BD. 3 overs against Netherlands. Batting is largely useless.

Can't have Pandya as 5th bowler. We need 6th bowling option to squeeze in 1-2 overs

To accommodate DK who has been dragged out of commentary box to ground, they are playing Pandya at no. 5. Otherwise Pandya is never a no. 5.
