For India Kaif made a 100 batting at 7. Yusuf pathan made a 100 batting at 7 MS Dhoni made 139 batting at 7 for Asia team. But did all these names ever made impact with all those centuries like Sir Bandya did in 7 years. He is known for his impact and not for his century, his awesomeness is so much that opponent does overthrow when Sir Bandya is not in a mood to score with bat. Has anyone of Buttler, Stokes, Nisham, ABD , Pathan has this kind of impact on opponent. Edited January 15, 2023 by raki05 rollingstoned, Adamant, Bigg Brother and 3 others 6

He should be fit enough to fulfill this role. In ODI at least 6 overs. In T20. Full 4 overs. Then batting has to be reasonably consistent and impactful. In bowling, it is okay if sometimes he bowls 4 overs and sometimes 6-7 overs depending on match situation. He doesn't necessarily have to bowl any specific number of overs. However, he needs to improve his batting prowess for becoming a proper no.6 impact batsman. Can't be a 33-34 averaging batsman. Maxwell for example has a S/R of 125 with multiple hundreds to his name, Pandya probably won't be able to maintain that strike rate but then needs to be a bit more consistent with his batting.
Gollum Posted January 15, 2023 Posted January 15, 2023 Don't have interest in milestones, not just 100s but even 5fers, 10 wicket hauls etc. It is what we do as a collective unit that matters, also impact, clutchness etc. You can have a matchwinning 40-50 or 2fer as well.....in all formats. Pandya seems to be someone who stands up in big games, ok not at the level of Stokes, Buttler, Warner etc. but far better than other Indian players. Hope players like him, Iyer, SKY, Gill, Sundar show their clutchness in WC SF/F this year. Tired of seeing us lose in KOs...mainly because of batting that too. Gollum Posted January 15, 2023 Posted January 15, 2023 (edited) Most of our big tournament victories have been driven by non-milestone players, talking about KOs 1983: Srikkanth, Amarnath, Yashpal, Sandeep Patil 1985: Srikkanth, Kapil, Vengsarkar 2007: Gambhir, Yuvi 2011: Gambhir, Yuvi, MSD (then was a different guy) 2013 CT was more of a bowling miracle, and Dhoni's Midas touch. Why are we obsessed with milestones especially in useless bilaterals? Edited January 15, 2023 by Gollum Laaloo, jf1gp_1, Number and 3 others 5 1

Gollum Posted January 15, 2023 Posted January 15, 2023 (edited) Unnecessary hate for Pandya here, he is the least of our problems atm. Top 3 have been shitting the bed non-stop in KOs for the last 10 years, question them. Also those maharathis have been captain in all our ICC KO humiliations....apart from chwtiya batting they make the most idiotic decisions like benching Shami/Kuldeep in 2019 WC SF, all trundler attack for a WC in Aus, and less we talk about the UAE WC the better. Don't even have to go that far back, 2019 WC SF was lost at 5/3, 2021 WC 'masterclass' against Pak/NZ, 2022 SF PP chwtiyapa against that monster England on the flattest pitch down under.....what use of all the 100s they made in Pan Bahar and Cycle Agarbatti games against C/D bowling attacks? Gollum Posted January 15, 2023 Posted January 15, 2023 Kohli after the 2019 WC disaster said he was proud of the boys, team effort, excellent WC campaign (the clown actually said that), 30 bad minutes yada yada. He actually was proud of our WC campaign, for what? Finishing 4th in a 4 or 5 horse race? Rohit had the nerve to blame bowlers for the Adelaide **** show, after that PP start......he actually put 100% blame on the bowlers, not a squeak about the opening pair (saw a table that had us in 15th spot in terms of PP RR, behind Rizwan-Babar and minnows!!!!) or Kohli's timid knock. Don't need such captains, don't need such rotten players in the system, such comments warrant immediate sacking, because it shows complete lack of accountability, shifting of blame, failure to diagnose our shortcomings. Too much ridicule/flak for Pandya and some of the youngsters. If you apply the same standards, our milestone makers deserve 10 times the censure for doing so much damage to Indian cricket. That I don't see, that is hypocrisy, double standards, blind player worshipping. zen and Suhaan 1 1
Majestic Posted January 15, 2023 Author Posted January 15, 2023 It is not about milestones. Hundreds also suggest that he would have come early to bat and yet batted all the way through which means he made up for the initial collapse by playing an impact knock with bat. In his 7 years of career, he has only done it once. I want him to do it more often. Look at Andrew Flintoff or Chris Cairns, these guys have done it and it is not a milestone but helping their team win those games too inspite of initial collapses. Hardik needs to master this especially considering he is not bowling much. Buttler, Miller and Maxwell have been superior batters than him for this reason only. You don't win games with 40-50 regularly sometimes you will have to bat long too. You can't keep blaming top order for the same stuffs. There will be days when they will collapse too. raki05 1
vvvslaxman Posted January 15, 2023 Posted January 15, 2023 Apt question should be how many balls he can survive. His maximum so far in ODI is 76. Bhuvi, Chahar, DK have faced more balls in a ODI innings than that. His stay at the wicket is average of 25 balls. raki05 and cricspirit 1 1
jf1gp_1 Posted January 15, 2023 Posted January 15, 2023 So now Bhuvi, Chahar and DK are better ODI batsmen than Hardik cause they have played more deliveries in an inning. No wonder we are playing cricket from last decade and wondering why we arent winning WCs

Not playing cameos from that position. If we are going to be happy with that we should stop dreaming about winning WCs raki05 1
