Pakistan cricket team discussion for CWC 2023

Currently ranked #2 in ODI cricket, very strong LOI unit.

 

Balanced team in ODIs, solid batting line up, good pace attack, good spin option, lower order who can hit.

Middle order can be strengthened by dropping Chacha and adding Saud.

Potentially, a Top 3 side in the World Cup, depending on their final 15.  They are a team that is better suited to Indian conditions than even back at home.  The skiddy Indian pitches will suit their quick bowlers and quickish spinners.  And the lack of extra bounce would mean their batters would like the pitches as well.

Havent followed much cricket lately. But I think their bowling is good. If they can hold on to their batting, will be interesting.

Saud shakeel has been added to the asia cup squad. A left hander in the middle Order who averages over 100 vs spin.

No really...This is not 2005 anymore. 

 

Wickets are flat everywhere and the English players have vast IPL experience. Conditions won't be an issue for them. If anything Pakistan may struggle as none of their guys have ever played white ball cricket in India.

England sent their ATG white ball sides under Morgan and lost here despite all that IPL experience.  Australia, PAK and possibly even SA could be greater threats.  Adjusting from Rawalpindi and Lahore to flat Indian wickets will be very easy for them.

Good side but massively overrated on ICF here. 

Aus Ind Eng are clear top 3.

NZ, Pak, SA are next tier.

Agree...  Indian pitches have more pace & life than dead Pakistani pitches.  Which will help their bowlers but also can make their batters more vulnerable.

Great addition...  Attritional gritty player which are good to have in a pressure situation. 

I feel Pandya & Bumrah may go short ball tactic at him.  He is a short stature player with a lower backlift designed to play on lower bounce tracks.

I would add Saim Ayub for Agha (WC2023). Nawaz is also a must for world cup, very smart player.

Do Saud or Salman bowl ? If not then they are going with 5 bowler. Rauf can be expensive. How is Nawaz at odi bowler,?

None of the subcontinent side is winning this. GOra side is likely to win given that they are familiar with Indian grounds due to IPL.

Yes,but compared to previous WCs,they look much settled and rejuvenated

It is more to do with us going through forced transition and finding ourselves unprepared just like many of us anticipated here about our side

One side that can prevent the more or less inevitable Eng-Aus final. Even Eng will be wary of this Pak team in a KO match, teams like India, Bangladesh will be brushed aside in KO but not Pak. 

 

Best fast bowling unit in this competition, serviceable spinners, okish batting, 3-4 clutch players, and they seem to gel very well, will be stronger than sum of their parts.

 

Favorites for me tier-wise this time:

Pak

NZ/Ind/RSA

Ban/Afg/Lanka
