The happiness that Chandrayaan-3 success has given has largely made up for the reality that India may not win the World cup 2023

Lol that is a bizarre logic... :giggle:

The fact that you're trying to cope with the inevitable disappointment of not winning the world cup two months prior is enough proof that nothing will "make up" for a World Cup win. Not even a 1000 chandrayaans..

Wrong.

Had this been a winning team that dominated cricket and was in red hot form

there would be great disappointment if lost a semi or final ( like we usually do ) - in our own backyard.

This is a pathetic team of losers, I would be surprised if this pathetic bunch made it to World Cup playoffs.

I am rooting for a humiliating performance so that public pressure and outrage causes a massive overhaul and we don’t see folks like Rohit and Dravid near the national team again.

And yes, Chandrayaan 3 pride makes up for a year there is nothing forward to look from the national cricket team.

Chandrayaan hopefully gets the private sector to invest in R&D and compete with engineering products in the world. Only a few unheralded and quiet companies like Bharat Forge are truly invested in products in world marketplace.

Hopefully Indian private sector can change.

In ideal world GOI should issue stern warning to BCCI & ICT all of the spending revenue would be halved if they don't deliver this time & all cricket stadium building nonsense would stop....

All that would go towards ISRO & other sporting infrastructure in the country.

I am pretty sure in next 3 years we would be sitting on Mars with a rover rivalling NASA's curiosity or close to it lol...  That's how good ISRO can become with proper funding.

If Lal Topi had a organization like ISRO in Pakistan he would suggest the same:hatsoff::thrasher:

Isn't BCCI a private entity? Don't think GOI has any basis to dictate such terms to the ICT.

What most people don't seem to realize is, it is game over for Indian cricket and BCCI.

The explanation is

  1. The players are "sold " to the IPL owners season after season.  A players brand is now inextricably linked to his IPL team and performances.
  2. The moment a player underperforms for an IPL team - or drops mid-way through an IPL reason to remain fresh and fit for an important India series or major title - all the owners would get jittery about ever paying top dollar to that player.
  3. BCCI is powerless because of the legal implications of officially asking a player to skip an IPL season and rest up for a major series or cup.
  4. Imagine getting into a legal wrangle with Ambanis or Goenkas or Marans. They would crush BCCI like a cockroach. This is not PCB that BCCI is dealing with.

The only thing that can salvage the situation is a group of extremely hungry and wildly ambitious cricketers who want to achieve for India and give the middle finger to IPL owners and IPL.

It is better to quit watching Indian cricket than waste precious life over it.

Much better to watch different sports or develop another hobby.  I have not seen a single India match since the second WTC final loss and don't intend to watch another match live except maybe the Pak match in the WC.

The Indian national side is not an underperforming side .

This side is performing as per expectations.

No point blaming the coach when Duncan Fletcher, Anil Kumble and Ravi Shastri could not get this side to win an ICC tournament either.

Blame goes primarily to BCCI for not having a better system to identify and develop talents .

Secondly, blame goes to the respective captains- MS, Kohli and Rohit for not moving with the times.

Instead of modifying our LOI template and picking the right players to play accordingly, they were all building the team around their own comfort zones.

Not moving with the times is very true. We are an outdated team content with a semifinal spot.

I will be the Devil's and say.
Every ICC Championship failure slowly weans away people from their Kirkit :pepsi: addiction and makes them celebrate real achievements and real heroes.

It also shows that we have more to celebrate as a people and are not just restricted to cricket for our adrenaline, dopamine et al... highs.

Money talks, who other than IPL will bring the money bags to win them over (exclusive or primarily) for national duties..?

BCCI flexes its muscles due to TV rights revenue driven mainly by chutiya indian fans- once fans start to boycott this team and not watch matches, why would broadcasters pay big bucks to BCCI?

Yeah that's not happening.

Already a lot of people have stopped watching bilaterals especially ODIs and tests but it had zero impact on the broadcasting deals. We just have too many people for the BCCI to have such problems..

Backlash from make barely a scratch. They manage to drown out criticism with bots on social media.  Selectors are in cohoot with these over-paid underachievers.

Plus there's always the IPL to entertain and distract from ICC tournament failures.

That fills up the the entertainment quota, just like cinema in weekends

India winning WC has whole new level of electrifying celebration associated

Slowly people will have no more expectations from national side ,they have actually lost it

Chewt BCCI will have to increase foreign quota per side in IPL to retain IPLs relevance, the more they do it,the more people will distance themselves from Indian cricket and it's players

Good going, this is slow poison, the entitlement, planning as per their comfort zones by the seniors and TM(including corruption in state boards)and only caring about sponsers will sink cricket in India sooner than we have expected
