How should fans react on the gross mismanagement by Jay Shah in organizing Asia cup?

It isn't even that they screwed up with the initial scheduling, its the fact that weeks of notice they are unable or unwilling to fix their own mess.

If we assume above, pak will be at 5 points, BD at 2 and both Ind and SL would be at 3 point. So Pak is one and I guess SL other given they had 6 point compared to 4 of India in group stage.

What were the options?

 

Option 1: Full tournament in Pakistan. Better to not participate than this.

Option 2: In UAE/Dubai: Impossible to play ODIs in Dubai at this time of the year. From mid-Spetember onwards, things could slightly better but will be a huge health hazard close to the WC

Option3: Other venues  BD: Full monsoon season, not possible; WI: Timings do not work, plus CPL is on

England and SA  are too costly and do not help for the WC. Plus an Asia cup outside Asia doesn't make much sense.

 

SL was a sensible choice of all options. A lot of cricket has been played in SL in end August-ealry September in recent past. Our ODI series in the 2017 tour was in Aug-Sep.

I am not sure Monsoon would have a massive effect in BD in September...  It's a retreating monsoon season so likely to effect more in Southern India & Lanka. 

 

They could host games in Australia too. 

AFC Asian Cup involves Australia anyways. 

Hosting games in Dubai must be round about as costly as playing Aus.

BD: Check the current weather reports for Dhaka (Mirpur), Chattogram, Sylhet, Khulna  etc. Returning monsoon months are traditionally Oct-Nov, don't impact BD much.

Australia: Traditional cricket centers are all busy with AFL. Cricket can only be played in towns like Darwin or Cairns. Not sure if there will be any point in hosting Asia Cup there.

 

And no, Dubai is not as costly as Australia - cheaper flights and hotels, road travel between venues (Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah) plus very easy tax regime. Extremely hot weather close to a WC was the only constraint.

So true, Jay Shah needs to be sacked ASAP.

 

PCB is at fault here too. They are so desperate for the India Pakistan revenue. They won't get that revenue from Broadcaster unless these matches are played in full.
