Left arm pacer threat - Boult - We will play him first time since 2019 SF.

Very capable seam bowler from other end - Matt Henry - Rohit Virat Rahul will play him first time since 2019 SF.

Left arm spinner threat - Mitchell Santner who is really tough to milk in middle overs. Off all the left arm spinners, he usually ties our batsmen the most from what I have seen.

Conway, Kane and Latham are extremely good players of spin in their middle order who can milk our spinners. So our spin threat gets nullified. We can catch any other team in these overs but these guys are most likely to get away.

Since Pandya is not playing we can't play Ashwin as 3rd spinner, who I thought could be useful against Latham and Conway. :wall:

Conway got fooled by a straighter one from Rashid. Not convinced that he is that good a spin player. Afg had them on the mat and had they taken their chances, they would have restricted them to 240-240. Not saying that they would have won as NZ bowling is breathing fire probably the best in this WC. We need to score 270 batting first and hope to chase under 260 if they bat first. Latham,Santner,Boult,Henry all play well against us.

I think Mujeeb got Conway. But Mujeeb is a very threatening bowler with the new ball. Conway scored well against us in the ODI series here. His record at Chepauk is also good in IPL. He is one of the best all format batsmen going around.

Can be a big threat for us.

I want Ashwin to replace Hardik and Shami to replace Hardik,it will e a bowlers match and we have to bowl them out cheaply to win.however think they will bring in SKY  and replace Shardul with Shami but it will be extrmely risky with just 5 bowlers.

We have Kohli who has shown he can bowl. :hysterical:

Kane and Latham can be choked. Key is not to hunt for wickets but to make them try and accelerate by holding defensive lengths. The bigger threat is Will Young/Daryl Mitchell vs spin. They can hit over the top and Kuldeep may be a bit vulnerable against them.

Thing is NZ are weak against pace and that is not exposed enough.  They are underrated against spin but there is a perception that they play pace better than spin.

Since 2017, against RA pace(Top 6 sides since BD, SL have no pace)

KW strikes at 74

Glenn Phillips averages 47 and SR of 87

Conway averages 34 and strikes at 90

Ravindra averages 46 and strikes at 158( smaller sample)

Against off spin(including BD and SL)

Conway183/80

Young - 72/90

Phillips - 67/111

Latham - 62/79

Chapman - 34/165

Ravindra - 32/118

Mitchell - 35/92

Williamson - 47/75

Santner - 93/74

There's no weakness against off-spin even for their LHB's in that Top 8.  They can build through the middle and attack offspin with Philips and Chapman later.

There's no case for Ashwin here. Need to hit them with 3 fast bowlers

Rachin Ravindra is providing good depth to NZ on paper and as well as in the ground.

Him coming at 1st down has really boosted their batting depth and ofc he is a decent 5th bowler too..esp in spinning wkts.

Glenn Philips bowls few overs well too.

India need to target them.
