Can they still drop Shami?

Wow, Shami's 5-wicket haul was absolutely brilliant! Bumrah and Siraj seemed like they were still learning compared to his mastery. I fear they'd still drop Shami and bring in Thakur for batting balance. What's your take on the team's future lineup?

I just will never be able to understand this imaginary balance Shardul thakur brings to team. Just sheer stupidity. Imagine Thakur today, we would be chasing 320+ for sure. And if we are 290/6, is it guaranteed that Shardul with other batter will be able to chase it down.  He is no Jansen.

They can't and never should have but you never know with Bombay lobby.

Thakur and Sky esp Thakur should not even be in the 15 given their ODI record compared to others but Bombay lobby is powerful

Of course they can - this is India FFS, we've dropped MoM or MoS players immediately after their award ceremony :cantstop:

Many here wanted him in place of Siraj even before Pandya situation. So probably India can rotate Shami/Siraj depending on situation. Its not about dropping.

Plus we tend to forget after a match winning performance that Shami can go for runs and not pick wickets sometimes too. Same applies to Siraj. Bumrah is overall our most consistent bowler and he for sure plays.

India should take combinations that help them win.  I personally did not support Thakur based on his current game and India could go with all the fast bowlers when conditions demand. When Pandya gets back, he should bowl else his position should not be certain as a batter only. In this case India can go with a Combo like today.

Pandya (bowler)

Siraj/Shami

Bumrah

Else

Siraj

Shami

Bumrah
