2024-2027 LOI team under Hardik Pandya

Pandya is the only t20 captain in our history to lose a bilateral series to a team which failed to qualify for T20 WC.  On top of that he remains injured despite being cotton wrapped by the TM for most part of the year.  Easily the worst possible choice for a captain.

First try and identify players for positions 6-7-8 and then go from there. Those are the key positions in Indian cricket we suffer with. The rest of the batters choose anyone, apart from Jaiswal nobody looks truly special, and just ask them to play high tempo cricket

 

Think we have a decent crop of fast bowlers. Kuldeep and Bishop as leggies, bowling looks ok

Over the next few years, cricket will be more T20 focused. Next ODI WC is in 2027 in SA, therefore, the ability to play pace and bounce is vital. The 4-year period allows even T20 players to adjust/develop their game for ODIs. 

 

 

Hardik will be 33-34 by next WC...no chance he is going to survive till there.

 

Hardik will retire post 2026 T20 WC.

OP was hiding for 2 months when India was doing well, Rohit was leading from the front and Mr. Glass was out injured. He has now magically surfaced to revel in negativity and to hero worship Mr. Glass (who hit 11 runs off Shaheen including 5 byes that are attributed to Mr. Glass).

I don't even know that folks like you exist but good to see you keep imagining what I am doing.

Hardik is a mediocre player in terms of performance if not in terms of potential as well. That he can bowl in theory due to recurring back problem means he needs to qualify purely as a batsman which is far-fetched given his inconsistency in that discipline so far. Finally he remains injured half of the time hence should not be part of any long term plan any further.

He was hugely missed but he has underachieved 90% beacuse of his fragile fitness

 

Given his fitness he shouldn't be entrusted with ODI captaincy even T20,better we invest in someone like Pant who is just about mature to lead

Fact - he is the current ODI VC (check the World Cup squad announced for e.g.) and T20 captain since the end of 2022 T20 WC (and SKY has been the T20 VC iirc). He is expected to take over the LOI (ODI + T20) captaincy.
