2024-2027 LOI team under Hardik Pandya

A squad needs all types of players including outstanding talent (OT), clutch (CH), & impact (IP). Tentatively, start out with

Jaiswal -> CH (should try to bowl as well)

Gill -> OT

SKY -> IP  (PS someone like Sai Sudarshan can be developed for ODIs. Sudarshan is tall and can play pace and bounce well)

Pant -> CH

Pandya (c) -> CH

Rinku -> CH

An AR

4 Bowlers per form and rotation

Others

Gaikwad

Kishan

Samson

Tilak (needs to improve his game against bounce)

Tewatia (if in a purple patch)

Axar

Abhishek

Sundar

etc.

Over the next few years, cricket will be more T20 focused. Next ODI WC is in 2027 in SA, therefore, the ability to play pace and bounce is vital. The 4-year period allows even T20 players to adjust/develop their game for ODIs.

Many of these guys have performed under pressure. Pandya for e.g. usually does well in KOs, Pant has shown clutch qualities in Tests (needs to translate that in LOIs), Rinku is a cool customer and needs to be given a run, SKY is a rare talent and expected to have a good run eventually, Jaiswal has shown clutch qualities since U19 iirc, ...

Too unfit to captain Odi side. Perfect for T20s but would've been a great option for Odis.

Fitness usually matters when bowling 10 overs consistently. He usually bowls like 7-8 overs iirc  ... Getting injured is not a fitness issue

His body can't take more than bowling 3-4 overs per match. He's a great fit for T20Is but don't see him lasting an Odi tourney.

With 6-7 bowling options, he does not need to worry about bowling 10 overs. The number of overs that he would bowl would depend on conditions, bowling composition, match-up, etc. He may not even need to bowl if not required.

India need allrounders and batting depth, I'd want shami and bumrah to mentor next generation of fast bowlers Mayank Yadav, Kartik tyagi, siraj, ryan parag, Washington Sundar harshit rana Mohsin khan, prasidh Krishna umran have to be in setup need to look beyond jaddu,ash should be coach for spinners Ravi Bishnoi needs to be groomed, kuldeep too,batters like jaiswal kishan need to be given more chances,gill and Rahul have to take more responsibility rinku we can try in T20, guy's like Abhishek Sharma too are must in set-up pant and pandya needs to improve fitness

getting injured and not being able to recover quickly is fitness issue. It was not a major injury yet he was out of WC.

This time I will give him a pass because he was injured due to a freak ankle injury while fielding. Can happen to anyone. He does have a chequered history with form and fitness.  Having said that he is a direct replacement for SKY in the X1 that just played right now and if we play 5 bowlers or even 4.75 bowlers he will be an asset. Don’t need him to bowl 10 overs.

The injury recovery period has a range. People have died by getting hit on the cricket field ... Many players who played in the WC came back from long recovery periods including Bumrah, KL, etc. Jadeja too was out for a period of time. Injuries are a part of the modern game which is why teams seek to develop bench strength.

It is just that he is almost irreplaceable that his absence is felt more.

Ideally our team during ct 25 or wc 27 should be

1) aggressive opener

2) power hitter

3) player who can switch gears

4)wk batsmen cp

5)cp bat bat

5)cp

6) batting seam/spin bowling allrounder

7) batting seam/spin bowling all-rounder

8)fast bowling all-rounder

9) spinner

10) fast bowlers

11)fast bowler

Who's the vice captain? Most important guy when this dude limps off.

Will be among these 4:Rahul, Iyer, Pant, Gill

Iyer and Rahul will also be candidates for Odi captaincy.

T20 belongs to Pandya atleast till next to WT20s

on topic: it looks more like a t20 team kind of Pakistan picks

Sai Sudarshan and Rinku should be in the mix in ODIs though as they have stellar averages in List A. Not sold ok Gaikwad.

Jasiwal is for the long haul.
