If you go by media, it would give impression that England is blowing away India in this series

English media did same thing during Ashes.

They put Murray's name alongside Federer, Nadal, Djokovic and called it Big 4 of tennis.....each of the Big 3 won 3 majors in a year, for Nole and Federer multiple times (2004, 06, 07 for Fed; 11, 15, 21, 23 for Nole...Nadal in 2010 btw), 3 is the sum total of all of Murray's grand slams and even there the 2016 Wimbledon was dodgy because of lucky draw and Fed's injury in the other SF (Nole and Nadal had injury problems in that tournament).

Another 3 time GS winner of the same era  Wawrinka never warranted a mention in Brit media.

Don't forget the hype of their football team in every major tournament. Fluked a win in 1966 because of ref's mistake, nothing after that.

Italy did the world a favor by beating them in 21 Euro final, that too in Wembley, London.

In all 4 innings so far, Eng hv been able to put up a score above 240.  And in both the tests, Eng hv managed to outscore Ind in the 2nd inning.    This is not what we usually see from a SENA team visiting India.   So, the hype is justified.  (IMO).

I think so as well. they have equaled us with the bat, and done better with their spinners (root > asswin). only bumrah has kept us in contention. lone warrior boomer, along with jaiswal

Murray was more consistent, Stan had a slightly higher peak, I rate Murray higher but when compared to Big 3 these 2 fall in the same bracket, somewhat. Apart from majors, Murray easily surpasses Stan whether it be Masters 1000s, ATP Finals, rankings, overall H2H against Big 3, number of deep runs, Olympic singles golds (x2). Stan's slam victories were more impressive for me, also helped by the fact that Nole was a good match up for peak Stan.

There was a period between 2009-2013 where Murray was consistently reaching in the semi finals and finals of majors and was always in the top 4. That's where the big 4 moniker came from..but don't think that's been used for several years since the Big 3 of Federer, Nadal and Djokovic pulled away massively from the rest.

As for Wawrinka he was a pretty good player who won 3 majors but was never ranked in the top 2..hence never really mentioned in the same league. Murray did finish as No 1 in 2016
