Kohli was a poor catcher in tests in the 2015-21 period, his zidd of standing in slips made it worse. Both him and Dhawan. 

 

These days he doesn't stand much in the slips.

 

He is a good groundfielder, athletic but drops too many dollies, remember Markram dropped catch in 2022 T20 WC....Kohli sometimes gets so excited and rushes at the ball with hard hands. He is capable of conjuring magic like Ponting/Gibbs/Rhodes/Symonds one instant and then dropping a dolly the very next ball.

Yes he has dropped some dollies, so what, Kiran More dropped Gooch when was 30 odd and he went to score 333.

 

Pant's easy stumping was missed  and dropped three easy catches in Sydney and again in Gabba, we know what happened next.

 

Catches the most easiest ones get dropped , stop making it a big deal.Kohli's catching has some issues but he still is very good in outfield even today.

It is a big deal. Kohli catching is one of the worst. There is no ambiguity there. Poor outfielding you cost runs. Dropped catches can cost you matches.  Shubman Gill already looks much better than Kohli in that regard.

Yes dropped catch cost matches, it happens with every team just like it happened to Australia . Stop acting as if Kohli is the only player who has dropped catches. Gill looks better so what, now Gill is standing in slips.Gill will drop some catches too if he plays for 100 plus tests.

We cannot compare frequent drops with occasional drops. He has dropped over 100 catches.

That is just fine, Kohli has caught more than he dropped , he was fine when he dropped those catches, he will drop more catches in future to just in case you want to know and he will be fine. Dropping catches happens to even best fielders.

No. He was never a good reliable catcher at any point of his career. He has pulled off some nice catches.  He is like DK infront of hte wicket. Takes some good catches and drops dollies. GOod outfielder.  It is very rare to see an elite batsman with a  weakness like that.

It is a big deal doesn't matter who drops. It costs the game. It is a big deal regardless of who drops. Looks at Rachin Ravindra. Dropped  a simple dolly from Marsh, first ball of the day. Stokes dropped Lyon in the 1st test in England. It cost them the game. Australia went on to win the match. MSD dropped a catch in 2019 semi final . It cost us. Kohli dropped Markram in 2022 world T20. It cost us.
