Nikhil_cric Posted March 27, 2024 Posted March 27, 2024 We are all hypocrites at some level. My own cousins in the UK were brought up way more conservatively than I ever was and I grew up thinking they were having the time of their lives . Things like economy and politics apart , it is very important to raise your children in the normative majority culture . If you don't, there's a good chance that your kids will be screwed up forever. mishra, coffee_rules and ravishingravi 3
SinNombre Posted March 28, 2024 Posted March 28, 2024 (edited) Left and right is just western media discourse. Both BJP and Congress and every other party in India is socialist. Both the Dems and Republicans are about American exceptionalism. Most educated well-off NRIs support basic socialism and support national exceptionalism. Which is why most of them including myself supported Obama-era Democrats and BJP. Now that the Dems have gone further towards wokeness (it is not going further left, it is just embracing DEI/"progressives"), they have started losing NRI support. We support equal opportunity, not equal outcome which is what basic socialism provides. This is not complicated despite media trying to paint parties as good (left) or bad (right). BacktoCricaddict Posted March 28, 2024 Posted March 28, 2024 Is DJT fringe or mainstream? https://www.cnbc.com/2024/03/26/trump-selling-60-god-bless-the-usa-bibles-with-lee-greenwood.html Quote Donald Trump on Tuesday started promoting a line of pricey Bibles in partnership with country music star Lee Greenwood, whose song “God Bless the U.S.A.” is omnipresent at the former president’s political rallies. “All Americans need a Bible in their home, and I have many,” Trump said in a video on Truth Social announcing the business deal. “It’s my favorite book. It’s a lot of people’s favorite book,” he said. “Religion and Christianity are the biggest things missing from this country, and I truly believe that we need to bring them back,” he added. “It’s one of the biggest problems we have. That’s why our country’s going haywire — we’ve lost religion in our country.” The ubiquitous Christian holy text is the world’s bestselling book, and churches are often more than happy to hand them out for free. The Bible is also free to read on a wide range of websites and apps, not to mention hotel rooms and other places. The “God Bless the U.S.A. Bible” costs $59.99, not including shipping and other fees. For that money, buyers get a range of extra features not typically included in run-of-the-mill Bibles. The Trump-Greenwood Bible, a King James translation, includes a copy of a “handwritten chorus” to the eponymous Greenwood hit, according to the website.

I don't know how good a comparison that is, but it is beside the point I was trying to make (and didn't do it well), which is: Many feel that the evangelical wing is at the fringes of the GOP. But DJT's direct Bible-selling antics and the insinuation that being a believer is being a patriot are all warning signs that it is not the case. It should give pause to non-Christians who feel that a DJT presidency might benefit them. Secondly, it is amusing to see him tout the Bible as his favorite book. I doubt if he got past the prelude. He is as Christian as I am Sachin Tendulkar. Edited March 29, 2024 by BacktoCricaddict coffee_rules 1

ash Posted April 7, 2024 Posted April 7, 2024 I get a very Beta male attitude from most NRIs, they just survive by bowing down to the masters.
coffee_rules Posted April 7, 2024 Posted April 7, 2024 I get a crab mentality from some Indians who are feeling trapped in India because their fav party/ideology is not in the ruling dispensation and feel lesser than NRIs who are doing well abroad!

Coz we bow down to our inferiors. Makes sense.

We are colonising gora lands. Goras stood in line to get papers to come to the same lands for hundreds of years too.

Go work for a boss in India and tell me what beta male behavior is. In my early days in India when I worked in my first job, the boss was such a A-hole that he made fully pregnant women stand and talk to him in his room to show his superiority for hours. Or the fact that the same boss would yell at your face when even the slightest mistake was made and made everything about firing you. This never happens in the west. Look at how Byjus was treating their sales teams. That's beta male behavior. I have many issues with Muloghonto and Coffee_rules but I admire their fight to voice their opinions freely and openly without fear. It's people like you who work pathetic jobs for pathetic pay in India - jealous of others success overseas calling them beta males when it was you who chickened out and sat back home instead of at least exploring other opportunities where your skills are respected and you get paid fairly to your value. Never make fun of people who choose to keep their talent at home. The key to India's rise, as we are seeing with Chinese students returning back to China more than staying in the west, is to retain its talent. Your issues with me and coffee is that we call you out on your BS propaganda and your inability to back up anything you say with facts or run wild nonsense theories that flies in the face of facts.

Do you ? 9 minutes ago, BlueBlood said: Since you have so much love and admiration for Adani, why not go work for his company for 10 years as a patriotic gesture considering you want people to go back. And then after 10 years, work there until retirement even if you don't get paid as much or have to work longer hours. After all you are such a patriot, such a sacrifice is fair play. You will never do that but talk about all kinds of nonsense like a perfect BOT. The only bot here is you, talking nonsense all the time. I have cited facts in the other thread. Not everyone is a gutless mercenary like you.

I'm not sure about that. Maybe his posts further down the line could prove to be so. In between his long posts, he makes one good point though. Its about monopoly or duopoly of a party and big companies. That's the fault of democracy in itself. Democracy by its nature leads to authoritarianism, whether it be oligarchy or worse communism. For fear that we may lose India to leftists and marxists, we tend towards the right. That maybe good for now but in the long term any party or power when unchecked is not a good thing also.

Have differing views with others like @Lone Wolf or @Lord or even @Singh bling politically, never doubt their credentials for good of India or even @ash although I don’t agree with him on regional chauvinism . Monopoly in an industry is bad as we see in capitalism leading to price gouging and what not. Only focusing on two companies who are diversified is not factual, that’s all. Rich men grow in favorable governments like Sahara did under UPA or even DAmbani or Tatas under Indira governments . Adani rise is no different is my opinion. Amazon or Microsoft in US rose under favorable governments.
