He forced Dravid to start keeping wkts so team can have batting depth, backed youngsters (Yuvraj, Zaheer, Kaif, Mongia etc.), went for multi-dimensional cricketers, converted Sehwag to open etc. He had the right mindset, and Dhoni built on it by phasing out seniors, backing likes of Raina, Rohit, Kohli etc., preferred players who were multi-dimensional and forced batsmen to bowl more (Raina, Kedar Jadhav), and added depth by always playing with 7 batsmen. We started regressing after Dhoni as Kohli preferred playing top heavy lineup similar to RCB, and Indian results mirrored RCB's. Rohit continued to do the same instead of picking players who could bowl part time. AuxiliA, Vickydev, Suhaan and 4 others 7

aditipaliwal333 Posted September 6, 2024 Posted September 6, 2024 It is indeed an intriguing aspect of cricket history that a player of VVS Laxman's caliber never had the opportunity to participate in an ODI World Cup match. His contributions to the game, particularly in Test cricket, are widely acknowledged and celebrated. In the context of the Tiranga game, which offers an engaging platform for color prediction, one can draw a parallel between the strategic decisions made in cricket and those made in this game. Just as Laxman displayed exceptional skill and foresight on the field. Tiranga game login today, It can employ similar strategies to enhance their chances of earning money and prizes. It is a reminder that while some players may not have graced the World Cup stage, their legacy continues to inspire and influence both sports and gaming enthusiasts alike.
putrevus Posted September 6, 2024 Posted September 6, 2024 (edited) 2003 finals was very much winnable. Indian bowlers just laid an egg plus India was superior to Australia in many places. After first innings no one was chasing the total. VVS was liability on the field and never had any aerial shots. VVS played faster in test cricket than in Odis. Even Zimbabwe bowlers would defend that score. Our bowlers failed us big time
R!TTER Posted September 6, 2024 Posted September 6, 2024 300 could've been chased if SRT stayed till 30th over & we had wickets in hand, but that was not to be. Our best bet would've always been to bat first but SCG chickened out seeing how we only mange 125 in the first game vs Oz Chaos 1
Gollum Posted September 6, 2024 Posted September 6, 2024 (edited) Lost the final at the toss. Batting first we may still have lost but contest would have been tight. Don't remember us chasing successfully against Aussies even once in ODIs from 1998 (Desert Storm) to 2007 (Murali Karthik MOTM game). All our wins against them in that 9-10 years period came batting first. They beat us in a TVS triseries final with bowling attack of Bracken, Brad Williams, Bichel, Clarke etc. Edited September 6, 2024 by Gollum rollingstoned 1
Gollum Posted September 6, 2024 Posted September 6, 2024 Beyond India to beat Aussies in a WC final. Don't see it ever happening, no matter our superiority. Bigg Brother 1
putrevus Posted September 6, 2024 Posted September 6, 2024 Ganguly talks as if he was fearless. But I have not seen more phattu guy as captain than Ganguly. There was no reason to chase other than fearing similar batting collapse. Aussies had Mcgrath and Lee and bunch of nobodies.Jason Gillespie was out injured.

Majestic Posted September 6, 2024 Posted September 6, 2024 Nothing would have happened. Sehwag himself managed to score 80 runs only because Aussies destroyed the game in first 15 overs and then they were just taking the game casually and bowled out India at 235.

That is why they should have batted first. They could have easily scored 300 against that bowling.

Still remember Ponting tensed when Ganguly won the toss and then almost laughing when Ganguly announced the decision
