Downtown Posted June 26, 2024 Posted June 26, 2024 Virat Kohli, you've been nothing but a leech on this team, sucking away opportunities and delivering failure after failure throughout the entire series. This is your final chance to redeem yourself. Can you finally shake off this knockout fever against ENG and lead India to the finals? Or will you, as usual, crumble at the mere sight of swing, gifting your wicket with yet another humiliating zero? Yes, cricket is a team sport, but even average players like Dube have been consistently scoring over 20 runs, while you have done nothing noteworthy. You've selfishly hogged the opener's spot, sidelining talents like Jaiswal. Will your bloated ego allow you to do something worthwhile for once, or will you continue to tarnish your already dismal legacy? Do you have any achievements left to show at the miserable end of your mediocre career, or is this just another chapter in your book of failures? mani sha, Ultimate_Game, New guy and 3 others 2 3 1
Sgattick10 Posted June 26, 2024 Posted June 26, 2024 Don't care about personal scores or milestones as long we win the Cup. He has highest runs in 2-3 WCs but India didn't win so it doesn't matter. cpct and singhvivek141 2
singhvivek141 Posted June 26, 2024 Posted June 26, 2024 For me personally, it doesn't matter if Kohli scores a 50 or a 30...as long as he plays a quick fire inns helping the team. Even if Kohli scores a 25(13) or a 35 (20) deliveries and get out..for me it's the job done as an opener. He needs to make maximum use of pp alongwith Rohit to ensure we are atleast 55 runs by end of 6th over. Problem will happen if he scores 38(32) or 48(40) kinda scores...it will take us nowhere. Runscoring is difficult here as the ball gets older, it starts to reverse as well. Ultimate_Game and Frustrated 2

But I fear that he might score 10 (20)

Run scoring is easiest in the power play when ball is new and it gets more and more difficult later. Its almost impossible at the death. If an opener scored 48(40) team wont cross 125. Keeping wickets and hitting later doesnt work even if you are only 1 or 2 down at death. Edited June 26, 2024 by New guy Ultimate_Game and vvvslaxman 2

Sandz Posted June 26, 2024 Posted June 26, 2024 He will help by getting out early without wasting too many balls , hopefully less than 5 next time. 1-2 would ideal, run out without facing a ball would be terrific. Frustrated, Serpico, singhvivek141 and 4 others 1 6

Run out could backfire as he is likely to get Vada Pav Sharma run out instead of himself. Opponents these days are smart enough to know that kohli's wicket will not be helpful to them.
coffee_rules Posted June 26, 2024 Posted June 26, 2024 (edited) What do you mean final shot? He will play in 2026 T20 WC and wants to retire in T20s only in a farewell WC in front of home crowd. That is the gratitude that India owes for his ATGness! King karlega Edited June 26, 2024 by coffee_rules
putrevus Posted June 26, 2024 Posted June 26, 2024 (edited) These whiners keep cracking me up every morning. It is endless entertainment. Now that Rohit scored couple of times, these whiners cannot whine about him Edited June 26, 2024 by putrevus
BacktoCricaddict Posted June 26, 2024 Posted June 26, 2024 All we need from him is 30 (15) - that's an opener's job in T20s. Sgattick10 and Bigg Brother 1 1

Ultimate_Game Posted June 26, 2024 Posted June 26, 2024 (edited) I hope for India's sake Kohli finally shows up when it matters in a knockout. But going by his past record in knockouts and IPL playoffs, I've serious doubts he'll be able to turn it around OP's last paragraph nailed it! The entitlement and ego of the so called "King" has reached another level with the decision to open. Edited June 26, 2024 by Ultimate_Game Chaos 1

vvvslaxman Posted June 26, 2024 Posted June 26, 2024 2016 was a different era. Matches were held in India. This is outside India. He played two poor innings at the Adelaide oval in 2022. One against BD one against England. Being such an experienced batsman still unable to Guage nature of the pitch accordingly.
