maniac Posted July 3, 2024 Posted July 3, 2024 I think Sanju Samson is the captain we will never have. Team player, calm under pressure and a very smart captain. Reminds me qualities of Rohit-Dhoni-Rahane. I don’t see captaincy material in Pant or Pandya. Bumrah is a good option but as a fast bowler he will need a lot more rest. before we find a ready youngster, he can be the transitional captain. he will win a couple of ICC tournaments. Sanju has that cricket acumen. I can see it. 100% guaranteed. raki05 1
Ultimate_Game Posted July 3, 2024 Posted July 3, 2024 Samson doesn't even deserve a spot in the team. I would rather go with Shreyas Iyer, Pandya or Gill Lord and cricketfan28 2

gattaca Posted July 3, 2024 Posted July 3, 2024 Doesn’t even has a playing spot you want him captain based on IPL ? Pandya and bumrah are ahead. Thank god Shreyas iyer is not in contention or kl Rahul.

dilliboy Posted July 4, 2024 Posted July 4, 2024 (edited) Needs to lock his place in a format to be considered. Pandya and Bumrah are being touted as future white ball captains but both have consistent injury issues and I don't want Bumrah playing random tournaments just because he is captain. SKY should be considered for T20 captaincy and maybe Pant/Iyer for ODIs. Edited July 4, 2024 by dilliboy randomGuy 1
cricketfan28 Posted July 4, 2024 Posted July 4, 2024 Inside the box opinion, sanju Samson should become kaptaan to get selected.
Lord Posted July 5, 2024 Posted July 5, 2024 calm under pressure? Every year I see him fail in big games in IPL after starting magnificently. Better than before but still not captaincy material

Gollum Posted July 5, 2024 Posted July 5, 2024 Bumrah in ODIs, Pandya in T20Is, Pant or Bumrah in tests. Gill, Rutu must prove themselves for few more years.

Both Bumrah and Pandya are injury prone and too important. Bumrah shouldn't even play meaningless white ball stuff. Just play in and around ICC trophies.

I am sure Bumrah can play these many games to get finetuned. Pandya need not play every T20I, make SKY the captain for 50% of T20Is, keep Pandya well rested and when WC comes in 2026, Pandya captain and SKY VC. Pandya has IPL captaincy experience as well, with success. And he isn't limited like Shreyas Iyer. If he gets injured last minute, SKY will have enough experience to take over. Gollum Posted July 5, 2024 Posted July 5, 2024 First and foremost, select the best playing XI and out of that choose your captain. This rules out Pant in white ball, SKY in ODIs, Gill in T20Is, maybe even Pandya in ODIs knowing his fitness and inability to send down 10 overs consistently. Iyer can be a good ODI captain but since next WC is in RSA, avoid. tapandrun, raki05 and Norman 2 1

Most of the time, the best X1 will win you the matches than brilliant captaincy or coaching raki05 1

Bumrah is not a good captain for tests. He was awful in the one off test vs england. 5th one. No thanks. Pant jaiswal should be next ones. Not Gill either. Gill likes trundlerany trundler loving individual should never be captain

In odi somewhat passable in Asia, nz. But complete no to aus and SA and even english conditions. Short ball woes will follow him everywhere.
