Popular Post express bowling Posted July 18, 2024 Popular Post Posted July 18, 2024 POSITIVES ... 1) Harshit Rana selected for ODIs. 2) No Avesh, Mukesh in any squad. 3) No Chahal and Jadeja. 4) Rohit and Kohli playing ODIs. With 6 ODIs before CT, they should get practice in this format. NEGATIVES .... 1) No Abhishek in T20Is. He should have been there and not Gill. 2) Samson should have been there in ODIs in place of Parag. 3) Jaiswal and Rinku could have been tried in ODIs. 4) No point trying Pant in T20Is any more. The Realist Posted July 18, 2024 Posted July 18, 2024 Justice for Yuv Chahal? @velu So they picked him for the T20 WC but now discarded like old underwear. Yet only won the T20 WC cause he was there to help team morale with his antics... velu 1
tapandrun Posted July 18, 2024 Posted July 18, 2024 (edited) BCCI, New TM and Selectors are still not understanding that they need format specific players. Picking Gill over Abishek, Pant is not that good a white-ball player and more so T20s. After 75 T20I games he is batting with a SR of 126 and an average of 22 how can he be selected, Do not see point in selecting Sanju too he is 30ish yo. still #2/3 wkt-keeper in the side, would it not be better to groom a younger talent if some1 has to be on bench should be younger player. After so many years Sanju should either be part of first 11 or if and when he is needed he should play in the side, no point in benching him. Sundar lacks the power game to a no.7/8/9 batter and off-spin has to come from a pure batter and only to be used when needed and he is amongst the slowest fielder. Do not think he adds value to the team, if Jadeja was not good in t20i side how can Sundar be ?? Khaleel is picked because he is LAF, Ind at the moment does not have many high potential LAF - all they have are Singh, Khaleel, Dayal, Mohsin and Mukesh Choudhary, Apart from Singh all are equally good or equally bad. Dube in both ODIs and T20s why ? - Like the idea that TM is looking for power hitters and that kind of batters but not sure Dube is the one and clearly he does not have 2 overs against good sides, V.Iyer could have been a better pick, can bowl 2 over and can bat anywhere from 1-6 and a LH batter. Sandz Posted July 18, 2024 Posted July 18, 2024 Mixed bag squad which is the norm for Indian selectors and some very strange selections. T20 bowling still looks weak. Surely we can try someone other than Khaleel and Siraj. Jaiswal is an all format player, can’t believe he is still hasn’t made his ODI debut, should have played the World Cup! Pant in ODIs make sense, that format suits him better than T20. KL and Dube in ODIs is a waste. Sai and Abhishek should have made the squads. To all Gill haters he didn’t select himself so stop with the Kanspiracies. express bowling, Ultimate_Game and Number 3

Adamant Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 Its a tragedy that a prodigy like Jaiswal hasn't been picked in ODIs. Whats this strategy of protecting Shubman Gill at all costs? I can understand that our top 3 in ODIs look solid but they are all right handed bats, we need Jaiswal up there. As of now it looks like selectors are not picking Jaiswal bcoz if he performs (which is highly probable) they will have a conundrum for top 3 spots. Either ways, if we have 4 good options and there are only spaces, the worst one has to leave. There should be a batting shootout between Ro,Ko, Gill and Jaiswal. Reason apparently according to bcci is Gill has the looks, charm and personality to be a superstar plus talks better. Jaiswal unfortunately lacks in charm and personality. So they can't make him a superstar. Bcci needs superstars to put butts on seats Frustrated 1

It does not make any difference if they score 3 100s or 3 zeros. They both wil be fine for CT as they will be playing lot of tests. What if a youngster like Jaiswal plays all 6 ODI'S and scores 2 100's and couple of 50's ? It will be too much of a headache for the mgmt, whom to pick and whom to drop. They have hinted to Jaiswal that you're not in scheme of things atleast for CT. raki05 and Gollum 1 1

Exactly…..They made up tgeir mind tht they dont want Rinku and Jaiswal in odi squad …. If somehow they hit century or delivered impactful knock than keeping them out of CT squad would be very difficult. For T20's...I still think Jitesh provides more value than Pant. He may not score 50(35), but hi 25(16) or 20(12) at no 6 will be more than useful. Except Sundar, there is hardly any offie in the domestic. Tewatia is an ideal lower order hitter but he doesn't guarantee 4 overs. Agree on Dube...I guess he is just selected to show Hardik that we don't need you in ODI's. It's just that someone like Rinku has to pay the price in ODI's. Raj Bawa or Nithish Reddy need to be developed sooner. rollingstoned and Gollum 2

Off spin does not have a lot of positive match-up, it only works if there is LH batter with poor offside game and poor sweeps. All off-spinners in white-ball cricket are pure batter/make sift off-spinners - Maxwell, Markram, Phillips. No team has a pure off-spinner in their line-ups. They are liability if batting side lacks LH batters. Make rinku roll his arm, Sky if his action is clean. A off-spinner most of the time will bowl 2 overs in t20I, would a team take a pure off-spinner who does not have power game for #7/8/9 and is amongst slowest mover. Ind keeps picking chahal in icc events, there is noway he can make into first 11 against any good side, he is an expensive wkt taker with v.few to zero fielding or batting contribution. Right now there is no replacements for Hardik he bowls 140 kmph in T20s bats at 5, yes he does not have many shots against faster bowlers but he can take down spinners. He should have added ramps and flicks like sky to his batting to counter that hard length bowling. Bawa where is he ?? Reddy is still new hardly batted or bowled in IPL 130-138 kmph pace is decent. Ind need to find bowlers who can hit few 4/6 in last few balls, Rana can slog few. Arshad , Mukesh Choudhary they can tonk few as well, can not have 4 no 11 batters in the side Ind would need to find a new t20 wkt-batter. Kishan in not intnl quality, think jitest can not hit proper pacers, pant records are there to say for him. Right now Ind has no good wkt-batter Edited July 19, 2024 by tapandrun
