Number Posted August 5, 2024 Posted August 5, 2024 (edited) Another good point Prakash makes is that federations can't keep sleeping when they have one good player. In China they have 2-3 players ready across all 5 event categories to replace their top players. In India they all focus on just one player. For example after Sindhu there is such a huge vacuum in Women's singles. There is not even one in top 40 I think. Edited August 5, 2024 by Number Lone Wolf, Gollum and putrevus 3

Element of luck, training from a young age, great action, coaching, access to right nutrition all play a role. Bio mechanic can only help to an extent but no training or bio mechanic can make Mukesh Kumar or Arshdeep bowl 150. They just don't have in them. Sports like badminton and TT are all speed games, requiring speed and fast reflexes. Why do you think we struggled in hockey since hockey moved to astroturf. It became more fast paced game than skill based. We got outpaced. Haven't won olympic gold since 1980.

It is the federation guys or even so called OCQ which Prakash started which needs to focus on other talents. Edited August 5, 2024 by putrevus Number 1

They sure do need a kick up backside and that does the trick. And we need to get past this "guru" culture. I mean respect them but they are also doing a job - for money. Period. They are no different from a plumber or a carpenter or a cook or a bank clerk etc. No need to put them on a pedestal. Kron 1

Firstly Indian fans need to stop spouting trash about nonsense like how india just competing itself is an achievement. Start from grass root levels. Encourage sports. Limit corruption in selection process. Then we shall see growth. Run stat sponsored doping program like China America Russia and Britain.

What more does she need to do well? Maybe she is just not good enough in world stage, move on find another talent. She has participated in two olympics which she qualified BTW, let others qualify over her. She has a life , she does not need to be vilified for posting tiktok.

He mentioned in the interview about that a little. Even prakash agrees he choked. Medal is what we need. Not participation. His loss of confidence was due to his inability to play with the wind. He is not a complete player yet. He is good only against the wind. Number and Kron 2

What more does she need to do well? Yeah that girl is a problem. but there are also several who do well in other world events (not asian championship). its a catch 22. maybe do the sponsorship but also find a way to keep track of progress in world events. We need to do both to achieve some progress. For some, this may seem a bit chauvinistic but in our society, its actually harder for men to fall back on. You wouldn't find a man acting like that girl who came 41st. Besides women have an out route of getting married and becoming a stay at home mom. Men don't have that option. Many youth are blinded by "women power" on tv and internet to not realize this situation.

Teachers can slobber all over their pet nerdy kids who memorize stuff but they should be sternly brought to heel if they insult athletes. A couple of fired teachers and the rest will get the message. I know teachers - a kick in their pants and they will behave themselves. Well then extend it to parents also. They all want Engineers and Doctors.Playing sports means wasting time and ruining your life Extend it to Govt in regards to jobs and system. In USA athletes if they don't make it to professional level can still have careers. You bet 95% of people here have that experience. Edited August 5, 2024 by putrevus
rollingstoned Posted August 5, 2024 Posted August 5, 2024 Badminton court plays that differently from both ends huh? that explains why he was constantly putting the cock over the line from game 2.

The point is that India is not developed enough to have available infrastructure for VAST majority of its populous. Building a bunch of sports arenas in Ahmedabad doesn't do anything. Show me intent by building intra sports framework that opens doors to everyone and makes facilities and equipment available widely. Korea was and Qatar is far ahead in both of those categories. Lack of medals sheds light on inner workings (or the lack there of).

We need foreign teachers who know how to win or have coached winners on the Olympic stage. We need to throw money at them Our current coaches, no matter how good, only know how to reach quarterfinals, they have themselves never reached last stages so dont understand how athletes who win think. Maybe top coaches can coach further coaches too At the top we need coaches who can teach tricks and mentality of winners, not basics.
