yeah by 1975, we had 8 golds and 1 world cup. at the same time, our cricket team was a poor cousin to our hockey team. I think we won our first overseas win in 67 against NZ. the boomer generation saw both sides - the downfall of hockey and the rise of cricket in India

that late 60s-early 70s team was india's first good team - wins in nz, wi and eng

I like Ice Hockey and Ski Jumps. Don't like majority of the events, and some of the events like figure skating are useless.

Bob sled- fkin give me a break. Also most Asian and African countries which produce the best athletes can’t compete or afford to compete. Some Kanedian white lady will win 10 golds in some obscure events  and people will compare her with Bolt and Phelps.

having said that you need to be rough as nails for ice hockey and need to be good at skating but the skills required  are much less than field hockey and looks less elegant.

USA need their Golds.. China is not letting up with Weightlifting starting so late in the games, they are still ahead

USA has proper process to pick atheletes. Chinese cheat in Gymnastics by bringing young kids whose bodies are easy to adapt in Gymnastics. They are also sending these guys in women sport in TT and other sports.

Hockey as an overall sports was becoming an obsolete sports at one point due to too many rule changes. in a short span of time. Many lost interest in it due to confusing rules.

Shooting, Hockey and Badminton are on right track in India and should sustain to produce high quality athletes regularly.

Wrestling and Archery should be high priority and funds should be pumped in to bring in new coaches and support staff as well as making these two games popular right across the country.

Boxing and Weightlifting are in doldrums though with Boxing as a sport is uncertain to be in next Olympics. These two particular sports are dodgy too with judging issue and doping issue. We may never be able to compete at these two sports consistently.

Athletics is in bad state except Neeraj (Javelin) and M Sreesankar ( long jump). These are the only two world class athletes we have. Rest, including Sable, are not good enough for Olympic. Men 4x 400 is another discipline we can reach world standard. But that's it. How can we fix it? No clear answers.

Yeah, seems so made up.

Indian people like watching these reaction stuff. They get very excited when an athelete or bollywood actor comments or likes something. In choti choti cringe cheezo se Indians feel very happy

Winter Olympics is not meant for Africa and majority of Asian countries. It's meant for countries where that's the only viable sport due to weather.

Ice Hockey needs much more physical and mental toughness. Almost everyone is playing hurt and you pick up injuries regularly. When you hear the term "body check" you might think it's some nice nifty play. But what it means is one player barreling down at top speed and hitting the opponent full speed and pinning him against the boards. And you've to take multiple hits every game like that. You can't handle the sport no matter how skillful you are if you can't play through the injuries and mentally & physically extremely tough. But it's much more fun to watch and quite fast paced & action packed.
