Rohit will be 41 when that WC is scheduled.

 

Now waiting for Jay Shah to confirm Rohit being made captain till 2031!!!!

 

Gambhir the savior, now all recent selections make sense. 

 

Also said Gill is a 3 formats player. Jadeja not dropped from ODIs, still an integral part of the ODI setup :hysterical:

Maybe @Lord is right, and we were too harsh on Dravid. Easier to talk wise as post game expert or ex-player on shows/YT, even Agarkar was sensible. Once they are given responsibility, I guess they are compromised.

Gonna cope with the belief that he is saying this just so he doesn't get bad press, like Amit mishra said criticizing Kohli earns you a front page headline. But then we were supposed to welcome his appointment because he is supposed to be a no-nonsense straight shooter. 

We had to wait for Dhoni to retire due to covid so taht he wouldn't play the next t20 wc, it's going to be the same for this lot of seniors too me thinks.

Jadeja was a passenger this WC. Also in the home WC KOs. He should focus on tests for next 3 years (25-30 tests) and try to seal his legacy in his strongest format. Can't he see the obvious?

Don't read too much into this. Gambhir has had public tensions with Kohli in the past and has a strict headmaster image. He's just trying to mend bridges with the seniors so they can have a healthy relationship. 

 

Nothing wrong in showing confidence in senior players at the beginning of his stint. What else was he supposed to say? 

 

Wait for a few months to pass judgement on his coaching and selections.

meh-Virat has already one foot out the door and fat Rohit wont last long.IMO Kohli will retire after CT from all International cricket and Rohit might do it too.The onl thing i hated was the Jaddu love,this guy has been hammered in LOI cricket for a long time and doesnt take wickets either.

If Jadeja has a good Australia tour with the bat... Make no mistake his PR would be otherworldly high and selectors as usual will mix formats and he will slot right back in.

 

Only scenario Axar gets in is if he does extremely well with the bat and ball and Fraudeja has a stinker of a Test series in Australia.

You don't want that, Jadeja is still the better test bowler than Axar even with RJ's dip in form. Did everyone forget that Axar dropped a sitter off Pope in the first test that lost us the game?

I won't be so sure about that.  I think BCCI needs to give him a couple of First class games before Test series where he bowls lots of overs to get back in rhythm.

His bowling form has totally dipped and he has lost serious zip and drift.

 

He should not be treated like a MVP like a Bumrah or Shami

I'm not saying he should be treated like that, but we still need his bowling & even on current form he's a way better test bowler than Axar. I would pick Kuldeep as the lone spinner if that's what the pitch needs, then build the team around that. Jadeja/Ashwin/Axar could be A/R based on their utility & pitch conditions. Kuldeep's done enough with the bat in Eng test series to not be considered a tail ender.

For the first 3 tests in pace friendly Perth, Brisbane and Adelaide(D/N) where spinners won't have much impact, Jadeja should be the lone spinner. His test batting is still pretty good, significantly better than Axar, Ashwin and definitely Kuldeep.

Ok then who'll be the 4 pacers? We definitely can;t carry 4 tailenders like some of the 2018 tours & if we are to pick 4 pacers you need someone like Thakur Saab at no.8 or ideally even lower at nine!
