Rahul is an integral player of the team with multiple test tons in South Africa and England. He has been invested enough, time to get the output as he is at peak and there is a high chance you will get that, particularly in pacy and bouncy conditions. In India also vs England ,he got a 90 odd in first test before he got injured.

No he isn't,he too is highly inconsistent

He is not someone who can be continued despite series of failures

Again I'm.saying ,in Indian conditions he isn't someone who is irreplaceable

He was going through bad patch then. Rohit also has poor record in Aus by the way. KL has much better game vs pace and bounce than Sarfaraz who will most likely not stand a chance against tall bouncy aggressive on the face Australian fast bowlers in their conditions. Sarfaraz needs to observe for one tour and be with the team before he ultimately gets to know what it takes to succeed overseas

KL is always in bad patch is Tests. Thats why career average is 34.

Sarfaraz is quite good with pull and cut shots and did well in A tour there IIRC. We need to take the chance like we did with Sundar last time.

Any idea where is D Padikkal.  Is he playing Duleep trophy? (I would rather hv him in place of kela in tests)

Yes ,in Duleep trophy

Naa,Paddii is the last one I would want even Kela is good compared to him

Okay, play him first test of every series. He does well.

Play him in first test of every series and then drop him.

Maybe thats the case.    I hv not followed him lately.  But in the only test Padikkal played against Eng at home, he scored 50+ in one inning. IIRC.

S Iyer is one of Gambhir's fav players. (KKR connection).   Dropping him must hv been a tough call.  LOL.   (In reality, S Iyer is sh!t)

He should have infact elevated himself to "irreplaceable" guy in the side after that SF ATG knock atleast in Odis and tests

But stooped low low low low and lower and then lowest

That SF knock by Iyer against NZ (on the smallest & flattest wankhede ground) did more long term damage to our team.  Relieved that finally he has been thrown out.

But if you think from his and fans perspective, they and he himself had more expectations

But he wasn't good enough to build on it

Iyer is done in T20 and Test.

OdI is his best format and he should concentrate on reinventing himself in that format. Otherwise, he will just have an IPL career moving forward.

Is the bad patch 3/4ths of his career?

Next ODI WC is in SA where we are likely to see tennis ball bounce.  Iyer won't last 10 balls against top teams.
