India assistant coach Abhishek Nayar is confident that senior batters Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will soon return to great form despite their recent struggles with the bat.

Rohit and Kohli’s dismal form in both the ODI and Test format has been one of the main reasons why India slumped to defeat in the one-day series against Sri Lanka earlier in August and then the Test series at home against New Zealand.

It’s safe to say that all eyes will be on both Rohit and Kohli as they try to improve their form in the upcoming 3rd Test against the Black Caps which will be played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai from November 1.

Nayar emphasized that effort is not lacking in either player and suggested that it’s only a matter of time before they regain their rhythm.

“Everyone’s worked really hard; everyone wants to do well, whether it’s Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, or a younger player like Shubman Gill. The effort is there,” Nayar said at a press conference.

“The approach is solid. They’re putting in the hard work, and sometimes, even the greatest players face tough phases. I’m certain we’ll soon have more to celebrate about Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and others. It just requires a bit of patience,” Nayar added.

Both Rohit and Kohli will be keen to regain their form with the Border-Gavaskar series right around the corner.

Kohli has been failing on all the spinning tracks last 5 years.  I understand a noob player struggling. These guys are no spring chickens. How can fans be patient for more than 5 years.

This is a ridiculous statement when applied to players who are on the tail-end of their careers. There's very very little chance that they will start trending up again, given loss of reflexes and motivation that naturally occurs with age and wear-and-tear on body and mind.

If someone like Sarfaraz who has shown promise fails in a few matches, we need to show patience, because he is on the other side of his career and can only improve.

That said, I hope he is right because we are stuck with them for BGT, so it is only good to root for them to do well in the interest of the team.

Thambi, out of form is something one develops over a few matches or one or two low scoring series..

Kohli has been out of form for 5 years now. His average is now down by 7 whopping points. People were cursing Tendulkar when he was averaging 55/54 and asking for his head.

Rohit Sharma do yourself a favor and score some runs in bgt. Your position is ripe for axing.

Rohit and Kohli should call it quits after BGT. We are not making the WTC final anyway

If VK's kid makes it to the Ind team, I will be the first one to thank him for being the cause of BGT 2020-21 victory!!

His daughter was born during 2020-21 BGT. She will make her Bollywood debut in 2040 with Anushka's influence.
