Perth Test : Realistically Safe Target

At the moment we are 218/0.

 

Curator says pitch will remain good all 5 days due to weather being good, commentators saying it might start cracking tomorrow.

 

What do you think will be a safe target ?

 

Although I think 400 might be a good target but the way pitch played today, might need even more afterall we have bad experiences like this recently

India needs to bat till Lunch on Day 4- and set aussies a 450+ target. Idea is to wear down the bowlers and the team by making them field outside all day in 35Deg heat. Can the Indian batting hold its nerve and do it?

Forget about target and just keep batting.  The moment the pitch shows signs of wear, declare and bowl..

First try to get a lead of 300 without losing a wicket.

 

Then bat freely till the pitch is good.

 

Cummins, Starc and Hazle need to be made tired for the rest of the series by making them bowl and bowl. 

 

When the pitch starts to misbehave, go to a T20 mode and score as fast as possible.

Yes if we did just better than 150 say 220-250 then Aussies would've got best of conditions.

We are already 218 ahead, if we bat all day tomorrow we can get 500. Yup 500 we can give them to chase. Pretty sure no team in history of test cricket have chased 500 successfully

Yeah I mean, play out the 1st half hour tomorrow. We are 57 overs down. Will be 63-64 overs down after 1st half hour. Post that go hell for leather for 16-17 overs till the new ball is due. Again play out the new ball carefully for the 1st half hour and then go crazy again. If our lead reaches to 300 with no wicket down then we should send in Pant or Nitish next to take on the bowling.

Yeah weird when we think about it, pretty sure if we scrapped and scratched our way to a 220-230 odd score at the end of the day yesterday, Aus would have got these perfect conditions to bat and would realistically have made a 400+ score in the first dig. That would have killed the game right there.

That's why we need to bowl first

In my view, if possible bat till first 5-10 overs of 4th morning then safely India can have a target of 450+ , and India can use roller.
