Karun Nair has earned a recall into the ODI set up, maybe?

As pointed out many times in the Vijay Hazare thread, Karun Nair has dominated the tournament like no one I have ever seen or remember. 

 

He has scored nearly 700 runs in 6 innings (or something like that) at a high SR and has been dismissal only once. 

 

He can obviously play at the highest level as evidenced by his past performances. He is 31, not 35. He has found some golden form that should be exploited for the benefit of the Indian team. Isn't this why we play domestics?

He is probably more useful than Kela who has these numbers to show far

 

Kela against non-minnows in the 4 world cups he participated  ( basically minus Afhganistan/BD)

 

2019 ODI WC  39.40 avge/81.06 Strike rate

2022 T20 WC 18.00 avge/112.50 strike rate

2023 T20 WC 7.00 avge/73.68 strike rate

2024  ODI WC 59.40 avge/80.05 strike rate

 

The strike rate illustrates what type of player Kela is.  I am sure even Mayank would have been more adventurous.

Rohit was sucking balls for 6 years before he was made opener. Not every player had the same privilege

He should be picked for Test middle order also, has been playing domestic for years so as a bare minimum he will be good against spin. Played county as well in recent years.

He himself lost motivation after being dicarded after just 6 tests while Rahane, Pujara, Rohit, KL and Kohli got a long run and no one was being welcome.

 

Now, he maybe seeing the light as most of the established are either gone or near end.

One step at a time. Right now, he is crushing it beyond imagination in ODIs. There is an ODI series (more or less practice for CT25) - give him a chance to parlay this form into something that will help team India. No need to mix formats, unless of course he has also been crushing it in domestic red-ball cricket this season.

That, and let's not forget he almost died by drowning in a boat accident, and was lucky to be saved. Only ones who have the experience know what the impact of such an incident is.

In the hindsight how big a blunder it turned out to be to drop a triple centurion for noone but Ajinkya Rahane.

Yes but that's normal for new players in first couple of series. No one is saying he was dropped immediately, people are saying a triple centurion was not given enough chances 

 

When we have seniors sucking for 5+ years it's weird people think 3 matches after a triple 100 is enough to forever drop a youngster.

 

So he played exactly 4 innings after that triple 100 before being dropped forever. 4 freaking innings.

 Maybe he did have his failings but getting just 3 tests after that 300 and that too he lost his place for Rahane immediately after Rahane returned for Eng series.

Yes but thats just one series. Even Kohli failed in that series and he was  in super form at that time.

Karun Nair and Iyer both should feature, but i believe the selectors will go for tried and tested failed tailunts like KELA, Chokoli, Rohit (s)Harami !!

Karun Nair and Mayank Aggarwal both are damn good players of spin.

 

Might have struggled abroad, but we won't have lost 0-3 to NZ with them.

He was dropped from the playing XI next match after making triple century for mental midget Rahane.

We always take seniority over form.
