Tbh new fielding rules and two new balls have killed the part timer.

Don't think that's the right reason.

Phillips,Rachin bowls for NZ

Markram rolls his arm for SA

Maxwell bowls regularly for Aus

Livingstone, Root bowls for England

I think it's just an excuse being thrown these days.

yes no excuse for our batsmen to not even bowl at Markram level, especially on Indian pitches

It's truly impressive to see posters (not just this OP but so many others) displaying such confidence and conviction in their wisdom and analysis, even when they've been proven wrong on almost everything they've said, without a hint of shame or regret.

Consistency is key, I suppose—even if it's in being consistently wrong.

Sachin as he grew older did not bowl much , Sehwag also did not bowl much.

Kohli was just useless with ball, it is not that he was lazy and did not want to bowl. Rohit on the other hand could have rolled his arm more.

Problem was not them, problem was other guys who were not as consistent as them with bat but could not bowl there by screwing up the balance.

Ideally you want some batsman to bowl but if they are iffy with their main skill then the team becomes like England team.

It's even more impressive to see posters with none too delicate adolescent level  sarcasm coupled with a complete lack of courage/conviction in anything themselves call out others

That must have stung—getting a reality check like that. Must not be easy to look in the mirror and face it.

Maybe take a moment to go back and read all the garbage you were confidently posting before and during the last three ICC tournaments. Anyone with even a little bit of self awareness would think twice before continuing with the so called expert analysis and personal attacks on players and coaches. But then again, not everyone lets things like accountability (of not repeatedly abusing players) get in the way of their opinions.

I agree that Kohli was useless with bowl.

But Rohit, Iyer, Jaiswal, Shreyas, Rinku all are not bowling for India. Even Tilak who was a regular 6th bowler for U19 isnt bowling much. We barely used Venky Iyer as a bowler and even Shivam Dube.

When the cricketers all over the world are learning new skills, why our batters are losing it ? Then there are commentators like DK who will say that it's easier for bowlers to learn to bat instead of the other way around.

In Sachin, Sehwag & Ganguly's case..when they stopped bowling...Raina & Yuvraj picked up the skill and filled the gap.

Missed opportunity, could have retired from ODIs after the final, on a high, being a contributing member of an ICC trophy win.

Anyway Axar is ready to replace him, and we won't need too many spinners in a WC in RSA. Kuldeep, Axar and Varun (big if), more than enough, should carry 5-6 pace options.

Oh yes, absolutely bleeding from your stinging words. How will I ever recover from such injury?

But nice of you to come out of your little hole and not even have a pair  to directly quote someone.

Accountability ? I'm not the bloody coach to be accountable for anything on a fan forum.

But feel free to sit back and pretend to be wiser in hindsight when you barely have any insight , right or wrong , of your own .

I agree , Rohit I think is just too lazy.

Others should have done it in past and they have do it now .It is not too late for a guy like Jaiswal, imagine Jaiswal being able to bowl few overs, he would be come such an asset.

Maybe it’s better to have no “insight” at all than to keep posting nonsense, just hoping that one day, by pure luck, you’ll finally be right and get to gloat about it.

Cricket analysis clearly isn’t your strength, but it seems like comprehension isn’t either. Then again, with the complete lack of self reflection you’ve got, I doubt any amount of correction would make a difference.

But he will parlay his CT finals knock into a 2-yr extension. Sadly.

He is more less out from test set up. So he has one format to cling on to. So he will milk it. Retiring from ODI means retiring from everything effectively at this point. But it is the job of BCCI and its selectors to make the call on future selections. Form is the criteria.  His fielding is really embarrassing. He purely relies on power play scoring.  NZ dished out an absolute rubbish bowling against him. He made the most of it.

Why cling? He is not hurting for money. Or Fame. Or even power if he wants it. 2 ICC trophies. Go out on a high. I know it is tough for competitive people to acknowledge their own decline, but still ....

To be fair, Rachin is probably going to end up as being a proper all-rounder like Shakib (unless he gives up bowling completely like Smith to concentrate on batting), not bits and piece player like many so called allrounders we have these days - espacially your's truely who the thread is dedicated to.

I caught this highlights  as  i had this suggestion. I remember watching this match. But watching highlights. it was heck of a fun match It has everything. India struggling early. Kela mixing tuk tuk with less tuk tuk.  Jadeja's possibly the one good T20 knock. That hazlewood six is amazing.  Then Chahal substituting Jaddu lol.  Dropped catches. Kohli's drop is the most hilarious one. Pandya's diving catch. 4 or 5 dives

He bowled very well yes but on pitches TAILOR MADE for him. Let's not get carried away. Anything remotely flat (95% of ODI pitches) and he gets milked easy. And he isn't a good LOI bat despite very few good knocks here and there

A test legend and jury very much out in LOIs

Sadly you are correct, I don't think you can blame play player.Selectors are being paid to do the job.

They want to play as much as possible.Sachin hung on forever to play 200 plus test and that useless 100th 100.

Dhoni parleyed his 2007 t20 win where he did nothing into playing in t20s for 10 plus years and odis 7 + years.

Dhoni was one of main reasons why India did not win any icc title before 2024.
