Virat has declined even in ODIs.

Recommended Posts

I hear a constant refrain that ODI cricket is Virat's best format and he is as good as ever.  This couldn't be further from the truth.

His spin play has declined in every format since Jan 2020 and ODI's are no exception.

Against away spin , he averages 37 at a meek strike rate of 82 since Jan 01, 2020

Between 2012 and 2019, Kohli used to average 95 ish at a strike rate close to 100 against away spin

Virath is no longer in his prime, this is where they have to chose 1 format where they want to put there energy to.

It will be hard to carry on 2 formats, all the greats by this time knew what format they want to let go.

The problem is white-ball brings them big contracts and mny and both kolhi and rohit do not want to let it go.

Rohit wants to play 2 more years nt sure how but he might be thinking he has won a wc and reached finals for another he should get more time as dhoni got.

problem is Ind has 2 batters playing in top3 who are on their last legs and that will not give positive results one has to go.

Dhoni was smart he pushed himself down and never tried to come-up and when it came to him it was that ind already lost or he scores some runs and there was no other batter left or top3 were finishing the game

Virat has been struggling against Leg Spin mostly where Adam Zampa, Adil Rashid etc have had a field day against him. He will be hoping that he gets to a start against pace in the ODI series. If he comes to bat against spin he is going to struggle. I am expecting England to bring out Rashid if Virat comes in to bat after 10 overs but again considering Rohit is opening, he may be coming into bat as early as 2nd or 3rd over.

Its no ordinary pace, it would be jofra and wood. They will be testing Ind batters, plus carse also looked good and has brains.

eng. batting is struggling as well, if Ind gets some runs they can win the games.

If he can replicate 2023 WC performance, we will win the CT but its not gonna happen.

On pattas, he will be fine.

On sluggish pitches, most of our guys will struggle.

Indian ODI team is stale, past its expiry date.

The issue is the next in line in odi cricket are not massive upgrade over these -- gill, sai , gaikward all are same pattern player with lesser ability.

and less hitting ability and none of these 3 bowl.

Majority of the side barring Pant Gill is pushing 30.  This is just pathetic.

We are throwing away another ICC tournament for the sake of oldies.

God forbid if they fluke a win then they will carry on till 2027.

Yes wasted time with bowlers like saini, avesh, mukesh, unadkat -- when ind needed bowlers for bgt Ind had to play rana who was making his intnl debut, akash who just played 1 match prior to it and krishna who was coming back from injury and has not played an intnl game for some time.

now they are wasting time with batters, pant is of no use in white-ball, he was dropped from white ball prior to accident and has not done wonders in IPl to warrant a place in  white-ball set up. gill has all the signs of bad version of babar

ODIs should be played more a longer version on T20s as we saw in VH trophy.scores over 400 will be common in ODIs,we have picked a team which is incapable of playing modern ODI cricket.
