IMO Pak shot themselves in the foot by firing Gary Kirsten and Gillespie. Now no decent coach would ever want to coach Pak. They should've let Kirsten clean up house and backed him instead of players. Now I doubt they can do so by bringing anyone from inside Pak.


They even view foreign coaches as targets for conversion. There was some news that they tried to convert Matthew Hayden’s son, while Hayden was batting consultant. Truly they have no hope.

He himself knows India would wipe the floor with them with their 2nd team. Thumping his chest and making these statements to probably get awaam on his side so he can get coaching role. He knows this wouldn't happen but would sound good to the public.

 

The best way to get support in Pak is to make anti-India statements and he's pandering to the same with these idiotic statements of bravado. This is no different from Pak players making statements like "India doesn't want to play us as they're scared" and then promptly losing almost everytime when the two teams meet.

 

Over the last decade and a half the only two matches I recall Pak winning are the toss dependent 2021 T20 WC game and the 2017 CT Final. If conditions are the same and toss doesn't play a big role I expect India to beat Pak 8/10 times and that's exactly the record over the past decade or so shows.

Ahead of the India-New Zealand series that happened recently (November 2024), where New Zealand whiteashed them 3-0, maar ke aaye inko (thrashed them), I was New Zealand's spin (bowling) consultant before being appointed as mentor by the PCB," Saqlain said.

 

"Five months before (the tour), I received a letter from the Indian cricket board as well from the New Zealand cricket board for (Indian) visa. I booked (an appointment) online from Leicester (England) where I have my home and got an appointment for two weeks later. 

"They made me sit in queue for 4 hours. I felt a bit embarrassed and I was disappointed as well for the treatment being meted out to me. They said you have to be in line...You won't believe how many people I approached (to get my visa processed). They kept telling me 'queue mei laga hua hai' (it's in queue to be processed)," he recalled. 

"The status remained the same for three months. In the meantime I got this offer from PCB. So I refused the visa, they took fee as well and did not even acknowledge. It ended there."

 

"Pata nahi yeh kaunsi duniya mei reh rahe hain aur kya karna chaah rahe hain. Kya yeh hamesha issi tarah rahenge? Inhone kab sudharna hai, kab inka mindset change hoga? (don't know in which world they live and what they want. Will they stay the same? When will they improve? When will their mindset change?)", he said. 

"They have a bizarre attitude. I think the ICC should look into it and Pakistan should take a firm stand. Inko sabak sikhana chahiye..."

Its a blessing in disguise for Pakistan that for whatever reason India is not playing against Pakistan more frequently.

Saqlain isnt an idiot, he knows playing against India is the only way to keep cricket relevant in Pakistan. 

 

No one in Pakistan cares about cricket except for the game against India, shows how much their world revolves around obsessing with India and their players.

 

Pakistan should actually play 10 Tests, ODI and T20 with Bangladesh, to compensate for the washed out game.
