Why gill ahead of jaiswal?

I have been watching from couple of years and jaiswal is ahead of gill in terms of technique and temperament. Also, may it be white ball or red ball, he is definitely the best young player in the world not just india..

Gill also has a headstart, anointed as prince to Kohli's 'King'. 

 

Yeah, Jaiswal is the best young talent in world cricket, and he will prove it again in England in the summer.

Gill has been excellent that's why. He needs to come good in "big matches" more often that's for sure. But to drop him now would be crazy, as good as Jaiswal is. Rohit should now retire from all cricket and Jaiswal should open with Gill in ODI

I am not asking for dropping gill but int he bilateral games jaiswal should given a go ( may be Virat taking off or rohit resting himself)

Rohit can be rested, Jaiswal-Gill should open and establish some rapport, 90% chance they will be openers in 27 RSA. You really think Rohit's body will co-operate when he is 40? Kohli has some hope at an advanced age because of his supreme fitness.

GIll is a top ranked batsman. But he has to fix his batting glitches. He is a prime lbw/bowled candidate.

Competition from a peer can do a world of good for Gill. Like how Jaiswal's daddy 100s against England made Gill apply himself in Ranchi.

 

Like how Chakri's entry will make Kuldeep better. 

 

There should always be healthy competition.

Yup. Jaiswal Gill should get chances. Rohit can start 27 if he is still good but need that backup.

 

I understand his desire for the ODI WC.

gill has a head start over jaiswal, won u19 wc, was pom if not worng. made his debut in 2019, ticks many boxes that bcci would like.

 jaiswal only made his ipl debut in 2020 and only came good in 2023. So there is a time gap. After good IPL season he was picked in the t20i side.

 

But then kolhi and rohit made a comeback so he misses out and there was only 1 place for opener till wc 2023 as team has already invested in gill so gill was there.

But now its simply Rohit blocking jaiswal's spot.

 

And remember in-between Ind has tried multiple openers in various formats for various reasons, Prathvi -deemed as next big thing, Kl kept coming back as opener and Agarwal was tried as well he had a v.good domestic season

It seems Gill has been told to play anchor role while Rohit goes for it. Usually its other way round. Senior bat needs to be anchor.

 

Gill might be better at 3/4

Has anyone stopped Jaiswal now for being part of t20 squad. If he does well there , there is no way he will be left out from Odis.

Rohit is here to stay after yesterdays CT2025 win. Not going anywhere unless for injury or a very massive decline or rest.

 

Shubman Gill has avg of 59 with a SR of 100.

 

In some bilateral series wherein Rohit Sharma will be rested, Yashasvi Jaiswal will be in playing 11 as opening batsman alomgside Shubman Gill. This openimg partnership has a long future together after a wait of couple of years.

he was the incumbent but didnt play in some series due to test commitments.

 

abhishek has since pipped him as he is even faster than jaiswal and can bowl a bit too.

All these problems can be solved with the retirement of Kohli and Rohit. Both Jaiswal and Pant can come in

Yea. Gill is here to stay. But he has to fix some issues. Jaiswal is also here to stay. ABhishek also has a room in this side. But i think Ruturaj  may play briefly for India. Just a gut feeling.

yes Ruturaj has CSK/Thala backing. But so far hasnt looked great. Way too many ahead of him on merit

He played well in the Final but due to his fitness he's not gonna last till 2027 WC. Rather than wait till the last minute, BCCI needs to do what Australia did with Steve Waugh in 2003. They backed a young Symonds ahead of Waugh. Time for us to get in Jaiswal to replace Rohit. Jaiswal can play the aggressor role pretty well as he has shown in Tests where he has taken 6 hitting to another level.

 

We cna't leave a generational talent like Jaiswal on the sidelines by playing players who're 40 and highly inconsistent.

In T20s we have Abhishek and Tilak in top 3. So TM is motivated to bring a rightie at the top, plus we are short in T20 keeping options as well (neither Pant nor Rahul fits there) and Samson can't bat lower down the order else Shashi Tharoor will throw dictionaries after dictionaries on X and make BCCI go nuts.

So that means he is not the first name on the team in t20s.

 

Tharoor is not coach/captain or selector to dictate who plays for Indian team.So I don't buy it.

 

Why are we force feeding him into ODIs when he cannot force his way in t20 squad.

 

These geniuses keep crying about Kohli/Rohit stopping youngsters.They are not, let him force his way into t20s.

He should ideally be in all 3 formats
Avg of 36 and SR of 165 is amazing..he is a true all format player.
Maybe he was rested due to BGT workload...played all 5 tests.
