Moreover the pressure and expectations on Bumrah to deliver is 10x more on than those aussie bowlers. And we know what pressure can do both physically and mentally. Vk1 Posted June 9, 2025 Posted June 9, 2025 This series is creating no buzz whatsoever except for Bumrah. Its a bit similar to 2014 Eng tour where there wasn't much to look for except Kohli poking outside offstump.

Overall it is extremely rare for any genuine fast bowler to play all 5 matches in a five match series. On top, Bumrah is a bowler with a unique action and a history of serious back injury. The first time he attempted to play all 5 tests he broke down to a point he couldn't take the field on the crucial final day. The focus should be to maximize his utility for the long term and picking and choosing his games with care. Edited June 9, 2025 by lemsip BacktoCricaddict and Stan AF 1 1

He bowls 135-145 kph range which is mostly fast medium to fast. Rarely crosses 145. Fitness wise bumrah is nowhere near 35 years old Starc. He isn't the fittest. Edited June 9, 2025 by rkt.india

Under Rohit , Bumrah bowled 27% of India's overs Most overs by an Indian bowler by some distance where Starc and CUmmins shared equally in those tests. Plus they had boland, lyon to bowl far more than guys like Reddy, Akash had to bowl. New guy 1

You can extract so many stats but in the end 17 overs per innings is the count which isn't over-bowling no matter what stats you pull out. Bumrah needs to get his act together and become fitter instead of throwing excuses. Fast bowling is tough, so, preparation should be that tough too. A fast bowler needs to have more intense fitness and bowling regime than batsmen. They actually don't bowl enough so don't have the habit of bowling long spells and that's what lead to injuries. Try bowling like Bumrah with barely any run up. There is whole range of bio mechanics involved in a fast bowler runp. It varies from bowler to bowler. Second of all Bumrah started that season in September. SCG test was his 9th test in a matter of 3.5 months. HE had skipped just one test in that series. During this period Bumrah bowled the most number of overs int he world. 220 overs in 7 and half bit tests. Next Siraj 209 overs in 8 tests. Cummins had played just the 5 tests. Over-distribution is very critical. You are can't bowl 15 overs ont he trot and never use them won't be the same as splitting 15 into 4 spells. Vk1 1

They were doing round robin with Kohli, PUjara, Rahane for far too long with Kohli escaping the axe due to his superstar status.

Its the English bowling unit that has taken the spice out of the series

Rkt has a habit of being pedantic for the sake of being pedantic. I can guarantee if you had stated that Bumrah is not being overbowled, he would have turned the argument into how he is totally being over bowled. Check any topic and he has the habit of being pedantic for the sake of being pedantic. vvvslaxman and Stan AF 1 1

goose Posted June 10, 2025 Posted June 10, 2025 if the tests were spaced out like they used to be once upon a time (remember when sunday used to be a day off in the middle of a test) he'd be able to play 5 tests. another gift from a calendar packed with T20

You mean Bumrah can/should be used to bowl 17 overs at one go? Rohit was clearly over bowling him,I can understand our bowling was only Bumrah and noone else but they should not have dropped Harshit just after Adelaide

Bumrah bowled just 90 overs in those 4 tests he played out of 5. So 22 overs per test. 11 overs per innings. It's like ODI cricket bowling. So in 9 tests spanned 100 days, bowled 240 overs 27 overs per test, 13.5 overs per innings on average.

There is nothing wrong with his bowling action, only runup is short. Don't know why people keep talking about his action. He has stiff loading that's it. Problem is Bumrah is a great bowler but he lacks top standard fitness.

But considering the real life scenarios, its comparatively easier to sustain the fitness if you have a rhythmic action which is easier on the body. Pat Cummins's action load was different pre stress facture and then post, he is able to transfer the momentum as well easily. Siraj, Umesh, Ishant, Shami there are so many examples in India itself Bumrah on the other hand, bowls as quick as Cummins (if not quicker) courtesy of those 3-4 steps he takes followed by his action. He simply has no runup to build any momentum. express bowling 1
