Does India have a chance to reach the finals this time ?

after the England test series , India is number 3

think we are only gonna improve after this .

Our schedule is quite tough.

Home series against RSA, Aus....even if we win both, we will drop some points.

Away in NZ, mostly whitewash.

Away in Lanka, this is the tricky one, they will prepare rank turners and back themselves, real banana peel of a series.

Good thing is even Aus, NZ will be in transition, so unlike earlier editions one team in 60-65% range may sneak into the final.

These are the fixtures for 2025-2027 WTC . Its still too early to guess but I think Australia will be one of the Finalists , England will be out of contention after being thrashed in the away Ashes series.

India likely to win against WI and SA at home but the other two away series are in NZ and SL which could be challenging, Australia likely to put up resistance in India.

We could also have a case of South Africa winning every other 2 Test series ( like they did during the  last cycle ) and reaching the Finals , so results of other teams will also be taken into consideration.

I want India to beat NZ this time.. Get the team selection right.. India can do it. Those lovable sheep fcukers need to be put in place.

I think we will win against Lanka . Most of our current test batsmen are v good players of spin and with sundar , jadeja , kuldeep and axar , as well as shorter test series , India will be ok . Hoping they play s Ayer or s khan as both are excellent players of spin

Australia visiting us will be close , but again with a plethora of all rounders and wrist spinners , India will be firm favorites.

proteas are wtc champions and imo got a very strong batting unit . Maharaja will be neutralized by India left handers. Not much of a threat but will be closely fought

the India New Zealand away series is where we gonna have issues

need bum , reddy fit and also krishna and harshit kind of tall Bowlers to get purchase in New Zealand.

India can win against NZ. No Kohli and Rohit is a bonus need to sort out no3. No boult or southee. Williamson might retire as well.

Good chance tbh. Should win everything at home and SL is similar conditions. Just need to avoid whitewash in NZ. Just 2 Test series is always tough

Confident of us winning 2-0 in SL.  If we get lucky with tosses it will be easy otherwise I expect SL to put up a resistance for sure.  Maybe Galle test will be tricky.. I think other test will be in Pallekelle (Kandy).. it doesn't turn that much.

But most of the current batch is good against spin unlike Chepu Rahane lolhi Rohit...   Get folks like Sarfaraz for that series alone.

Fluke a win in NZ somehow... I know tough but get lucky with the toss somehow bowl first and pitch gets better later.

I think NZ series is the only tough one.

SA batsmen don't play spin well plus no good spinners bar Maharaj.

WI - nothing to be said

SL - Think now that RoKo are gone we are just match up against them well

Aus - Their best chance was in 23 tbh with Bumrah-Pant missing and aging batting. By 27 India batsmen will have two more years in them while Aus will have aged even more

NZ - This will be tough. Depends on how Akash, Prasidh and Reddy evolve tbh.

India possible can go through to WTC final with the following realistic series results if Rohit returns to Test Cricket:

2-0 vs SL

1-1 vs NZ

4-1 vs Aus

Lets just focus test by test. This is too big a dream in pipeline.

Hope we 'somehow' beat the Lankans 2-0 and then take it from there.
Any slip up there, its all over.

Yes 1-1 in NZ v NZ with Rohit who delivered 0-3 at home vs same team :nice:

This wtc cycle was all about rebuilding for next wtc cycle. My expectation when up after our performance in England however with the SA loss we are all but done. We are going to lose in NZ and that should be the end of it.

Not really. If West Indies can compete without Shamar and Alzarri and just 2-3 batsman, why can't our sooooooperstars ?
