MARQUEE EVENTS FOR ICT

What are in your view marquee events or must see tv involving indian cricket team which you can be excited to watch and give your real joy

At present for me as under

1. Test series in Australia

2. Test series in England

3. Cricket World Cup odi

4. 20-20 wc

5. Australia tour of India tests

6. Test series in south africa(minimum 3 tests it should be)

7. England tour of india tests

All other cricket is just filler and doesn't really mean much or excite anyone

Bcci needs to somehow increase these marquee events to 12  in 4 year cycle ensure atleast 3 per year to keep everyone happy

I have not included wtc as it's just one off test and also not included tests against newzealand because of awkward timings and new Zealand not really having much respect in test cricket

Here are some ideas

India England Australia can play a tri series with big prize money in odi or 20-20 format each year in ENG/AUS/IND or have one fourth country like Sa/nz to make it quad

Rather than touring Australia England once in 4 make it once in 3 thus giving additional marquee series

Any other ideas to stretch it to 12?

We have played a total of 19 tests vs England and 14 tests vs Aus in last 5 years. In fact out of 52 tests in last 5 yrs, 33 tests (65%) are vs England and Australia. Just 2 vs SL and Aus. As we don't play Pak*s, all the more reason to have more tests with SL , WI and even SA and NZ. Our players need some relatively easier runs and wickets (play on normal home wickets, not dust bowls which make ordinary opposition spinners look better than they are.

1. Test series in Australia

2. ODI WC

3. Test series in England

4. Home Test series vs NZ

5. Overseas Test series vs NZ

6. Overseas Test series vs SA

7. T20 WC

8. Home Test tours to England/Australia

9. IPL

10. Champions Trophy/Asia Cup or whatever bullshit they throw these days

SL, WI tours are good if we play A teams. Else the quality gap is high.

Don't count HeeraMandi & Kanglus.

Away series in NZ (now more so than ever before, we have one test win there in last 50 years !!!!!)

Away BGT (since we have already won there twice), 50 overs WC

Away series in Eng, RSA. Home BGT (next edition could be final series for Smith, Starc, Lyon, Hazlewood etc. as it will conclude the WTC cycle)

Home series vs NZ

T20 WC

Home series vs Poms, RSA

CT

Other away tests

Other home tests

ODI/T20I bilaterals, Asia Cup, Nidahas etc. don't care.

Next year's away test series in NZ is probably our most important assignment this decade (we usually tour NZ once in 6-7 years), bigger than the 27 WC. They easily whitewashed us in the 2020 tour and last year. Very strong team, will doctor the conditions to max limit possible and knowing our toss record, uphill climb...they also tend to overperform against us. Win there 2-0 and it will rank equal to 2020-21 BGT triumph and above any WC win.

Not enough marquee events for us. Let go off these stupid Asia Cups, bilaterals and have tri-series, quadrangulars with other SENA sides....like the Rugby tri-nations featuring giants of that sport: NZ, RSA, Aus.

I can trade anything for CWCs,that's ultimate price

Note -If you win CWC consistently (or down very well consistently)you are bound to do well overseas in red ball assignments

2nd priority test wins in Aus,Eng,NZ,SA

I used to love those 90s test tours of West Indies.

India rarely did well. But staying up at night for the Calypso magic, passionate crowds, music, Lara, Walsh, Ambrose...Tony Cozier in the commentary box...for me that was as good as a tour of Australia.

India tour west indies only once in 1990s. We should have won the series. We got bundled chasing 120 odd. Next time we went in 2002 i guess and we lost 2-1. Carl hooper was the chief wrecker. That was the last time india lost to windies.
