Tendulkar rarely dropped a catch

Very safe catcher. But also a rocket arm from the deep, people somehow forget that. Underrated in fielding, fitness, his running between the wickets was also elite.....not as great as Kohli/Dhoni but for his generation he was exceptional.

Rolly polly figure but a proper athlete, like Maradona.

Most of the specialist batsman from India had decent catching record except Kohli. Even Ganguly didn't miss straight forward chances. Azharuddin has dropped a few dolies in the 90s. One that i recall happeend in SA. i think in the space of a few balls he dropped two catches exactly same way. Imagine lobbing the ball high with under arm to you. That is how easy the catch was. Since it is 90s and it is azharuddin we never know the real reason.

Sachin was a fantastic fielder and most often fielded in the boundary during the death overs. He was very quick and had a powerful arm from the boundary. His catching was always safe and he gave 100% on the field always. Something which gets ignored due to how great he was with the bat. His bowling was underrated as well, people forget that he had 2 five wicket hauls with the ball bowling leg-spin. Some even claimed that he could have been a great spinner if he had concentrated on that skill. He also played tennis and wrote with his left-hand. That means that he was ambidextrous as well. He was a proper athlete, just did not have the height.

Underused as a fielder. Should have been in slips more

Well, we had Dravid and Laxman who were both great slip catchers and Dravid was more agile in dives etc.

Anything god does was perfection for team INDIA . Without him in 1996 WC, i would not get in to cricket. He made cry n left me amazing memories :hatsoff:.

Yeah that is why he has less least amount of catches per match which is 0.314 catches/match.

Azhar was the gun catcher in early 1990s that is why he was in slips more and once Dravid came into the team he was better than Sachin along with VVS in slips. There is reason why VVS and Dravid have more catches.

Parthiv Patel had more catches per innings than Kirmani, Mongia, Dhoni and Saha, yet was the worst keeper I have ever seen.

Kamran Akmal had more catches per innings than Knott, Bari, Healy, Dujon, Latif, Boucher, Gilchrist, Parore. By your logic, he was the greatest keeper of all time.

Azhar dropped Saeed Anwar in the 2nd innings of 1999 Eden test when he was in single digits. Went on to make 188* and we lost. Great fielder but also a crook, can never tell if he missed them on purpose.

It is not by logic, I saw them live too . Sachin came into the team before Dravid and VVS and was there after they retired also.

Was Sachin good fielder answer is yes in his initial years but as he aged he became a liability too. That is why Dhoni started playing two out of three in 2008 CB series .

He was not better than Azhar ,Dravid or even  VVS in slips.Azhar was a fantastic fielder and close in catcher.

Kohli,  Rohit dropped quite a few catches. Isn’t strange being fit and dropping dollies ?

He was always a safe catcher. Which is the topic of this thread. Not talking about spectacular or acrobatic.

Dravid, Laxman weren't as good in the deep but you could place Sachin everywhere, he was more versatile.

Azhar was great, but can't trust such a guy.

lol no dhoni mentioned about sehwag in cb series. Sehwag took a diving catch to prove him wrong.
