Can Jadeja end career with 5000 runs at 40+ avg and 400 wickets at sub 25 avg?

Ashwin/Jadeja  is the most match winning pair in Indian history.  Use all the filters one can use. But  they put more Ws  next to Indian team as a combo than anyone else. That's all that matters. One guy has record for MOS. Other one for MOM.

This is pure speculation.. Jadejas innings against West Indies looked different. He started hitting sixes from the very beginning. He didn't even try to get set. For the record this was his fastest test hundred. Does he send a message that he is still good enough for ODI. In all probability Agarkar or Gambhir probably had a conversation with Jadeja.before the team announcement.

nah just WI being easier. They fed him SLA bowler so he could hit sixes. Was a typical low risk innings

Boycott recently in that Overlap Cricket show said his favorite modern day cricketer is Jadeja. Boycs is not someone who is generous in his praise. Jadeja is admired by everyone except Indian fans who always mix formats. But even then, Jaddu has contributed in a few ICC tournaments, and as a fielder always an asset, heck I will have him in our AT ODI/T20I team as 12th man.

Jadeja is like Kallis, underrated, MVP, and his value will be known only when he calls it quits. For all his faults, have to commend Dhoni for backing Jaddu when he was ridiculed by everyone.

Jaddu is not just a great cricketer, he is a great athlete who just happens to play cricket. If he wanted he could have achieved sporting excellence in a dozen other disciplines.

If there is someone in Indian cricket who deserves a farewell match, it is Jaddu. In fact name Rajkot stadium after him instead of that nobody, Niranjan Shah.

I think this forum abuses Jadeja the most and even for test cricket. He would be way more celebrated if he was English or Australian. He has made the most of his talents over the last 15 years. He is not flashy and does not have a Fan gang or PR machine.

I checked only for his spin bowling stats and here it is.

There are only 8 spinners ever to take more than 200 test wickets at less than 30 average and 60 strike rate. If we limit the list to 300 wickets then the number of spinners is 5. So no matter who thinks what of his bowling Jadeja has set his legacy. His skills are not fancy and his bowling does not have the art of Ashwin or Warne but he has done his job and more.

He is definitely not a lead bowler anymore but he has been the second spinner for most of his career and that is fine when you have a great like Ashwin. To play with the fantastic pace bowling unit and Ashwin for the bulk of his career and still take 350 wickets is no small feat. Even in his current decline when people think he is not doing much, he has taken over 100 wickets since 2023. He is doing similar to Lyon while batting almost like a specialist batter.

We can break down stats and technicals and debate fine points for everyone, but the overall picture has its weight. To this day I would rate him as a second spinner for test matches in spin friendly conditions (Asia).  No matter who has played recently, Jadeja has kept contributing.

I personally think it may be hard for him to get to 400 test wickets but there is an outside chance that can happen. He is getting like 3.5 wickets for test now and needs around 14-15 tests to get there.

I watched the highlights and felt an odd sense of satisfaction when it was Sanjay Manjrekar who was the commentator for Jadeja's wkt # 350.

Bit kinva Piece Maanzrekar Bhau?

You can find lot of Manjrekars on this forum :p:

His bowling efficiency has gone down a lot.His batting alone is not good enough to compensate for his lack of wickets with ball.

He along with Ashwin are the two main pillars of this era's Indian teams. They have to plan for his exit too.If Suthar is  main spinner then two left arm spinners is overkill.
