sage Posted October 29 Posted October 29 Four days after being adjudged Player of the Series against Australia, Rohit, the ‘Hitman’, finds himself ranked as the No. 1 batter in Men’s ODIs for the first time in an illustrious career. And that has come at the age of 38 years and 182 days, making the former captain the oldest world No. 1 in the game’s 50-over format. Rohit dethroned current India Test and ODI captain Shubman Gill at the top. Interestingly, the ‘Hitman’ replaced another fellow-Indian as the oldest numero uno ODI batter. Batting legend Sachin Tendulkar had held that record so long, having been ranked No. 1 batter in ODIs at the age of 38 years and 73 days back in 2011. VT87, sorak, Prabhdeep Singh and 2 others 5

Yeah never took off with the Kohli-Puajra-Rahane trio. Surprisingly when they started sucking post covid, Rohit became really good for 3-4 years. At leas he had something of a test career and some great knocks at the Oval, Chennai, Nagpur. nevada 1
nitinbwj Posted October 29 Posted October 29 Rohit still has that power and timing game to tonk sixes and fours. NRI can only hit a few lucky 4s. He can rotate strike at run a ball but had lost the ability to hit 4s

That is why you could still simialr timing which you could see 15 years back. Kohli is known for going at the ball with hard hands.
Prabhdeep Singh Posted October 29 Posted October 29 (edited) Considering he did not maximise his Test Career, he still scored 12 test 100’s all in wins, he played a lot fewer matches than his contemporaries. To put things into perspective, his contemporaries in terms of match winning test 100’s: Kohli 14/30 test 100’s in wins Pujara 13/19 test 100’s in wins Rahane 9/12 test 100’s in wins If you are really honest, only his last 8 test matches were bad from September 2024 since he started opening in October 2019. He got clubbed with Virat who had been bad for 5 years in test cricket. Rohit’s average declined sharply from 45 to 40 during this phase. Even to this day he is the best batsman to watch when in full flow. I believe Rohit should start playing Ranji and make a play to return to test side on the basis of scoring runs in Ranji. If he is going to keep him self active until 2027 playing only 1 format is not ideal. Might as well pursue tests also until 2027. Edited October 30 by Prabhdeep Singh sage, Stan AF and sorak 3

putrevus Posted October 29 Posted October 29 Rohit was also was the reason for India not winning in 2014, 2016 and as a captain in 2022 semi when he opened and batted under 100 SR.

Babar Azam has been ODI number 1 batsman for more weeks than Rohit, Ponting, Dhoni, Hussey, Gilchrist etc. When did he dominate? What is his equivalent of Rohit's 2019 WC campaign? Likewise is Shaheen more dominant than McGrath, Donald, Akram? Only test rankings are legit because teams always field their first choice players and play with intensity. tapandrun 1
