nitinbwj Posted November 25, 2025 Posted November 25, 2025 Just now, MechEng said: Shukri is trying hard to ragebait Indians so that they can at least put up a fight tomorrow. Which is not going to happen. We will be 6-7 down in the first session itself. This team has had it with GG.

They have been playing excellent cricket. Insane batting depth and good bowlers for every condition. Rabada didn't even play . They are led by Bavuma who walks the talk unless our princess. Tillu Posted November 25, 2025 Posted November 25, 2025 Bumrah of all people should have known better not to use a word like Bauna to the visiting team captain. The SA coach knows he wouldn't be around the next time SA visits India, so he is talking without any filter.

Tony Greig's statement was controversial at the time because it came from a white South African ( playing for England) who grew up there during apartheid and was aimed at a a team of black players. Apartheid was still the policy in SA when the statement was made. The statement from the current SA coach is perfectly fine and they have earnt the right to bully and dominate the Indian players. There is nothing racist about the English word grovel. I wouldn't put it past GG to spin this into a controversy and let loose another dying for the country opus of a speech. Tillu Posted November 25, 2025 Posted November 25, 2025 Now will our players shake the hands of SA players after being humiliated off the field as well. Vickydev 1

Tillu Posted November 25, 2025 Posted November 25, 2025 (edited) Does this guy coach any of the SA20 teams. If this blows up, he may not find a job with any of the SA20 teams which has majority Indian owners. Edited November 25, 2025 by Tillu

Yes but as I explained the controversy was not related to the word grovel but the specific circumstances at the time - apartheid south african captain talking down a team with black players. People use the word freely in conversation everywhere. In fact the "bauna" reference was more crude and disrespectful than this. Either way it shouldn't detract attention from the real issue - India have been well and truly humbled on their own soil by yet another visiting side.
Gollum Posted November 25, 2025 Posted November 25, 2025 He is an outspoken guy. Best way to respond to such taunts is if we learn from this, improve and form a world beating side in the near future.
Gollum Posted November 25, 2025 Posted November 25, 2025 (edited) Context of Tony Greig's comment was very different. South African born white guy during apartheid times telling that about people who had endured slavery at the hands of white men for centuries, and even UK was in turmoil when it came to relations between white people and immigrants from Carribean islands around that time. Stupid comment but don't think it was meant in a racist way. In fact Bumrah's 'bauna' comment was also bad because of who it was directed towards, there are pygmy tribes in Africa who are very short. Hope both teams shake hands on good terms tomorrow, series has been played in sporting spirit and RSA players have been very humble and muted despite their overwhelming dominance.
