Vickydev Posted February 1 Posted February 1 ICC asking them to reconsider. Not unexpected but gives Pak a way out
Suhaan Posted February 1 Posted February 1 I don't think a single India vs. Pakistan game can compensate for an entire event. This is just nonsense sold by Pakistan and their delusional YouTubers. Some chewt here, is even saying these three Asian boards should never host anything again. How much are you hurting, man? mishra 1

BCCI/India has done nothing except the Fizz ban. And let us be honest, IPL is a private league and they can do what the * they want. Their money, their rules. May look tacky but that is the nature of all such leagues. We has been quietly observing. Just that both Pak/BD are losing their minds and making one wrong decision after another. bouncers, rollingstoned, mishra and 4 others 7
Gollum Posted February 1 Author Posted February 1 (edited) Life does imitate a chess game. Sometimes you come up with these elaborate plans, strategy, deep sacrifices, only for the opponent to respond correctly and thwart all your plans. Then other times, you blunder in a chaotic position, your opponent responds with an even bigger blunder, and as the oft-repeated saying by the great Tartakower goes, the winner of the game is the one who makes the next-to-last mistake. That is what has happened here with BCCI and PCB/BCB. Now both those boards are in 'zugzwang' (pun not intended). It is a German word used in chess (and game theory), basically means that whatever move you make, your position worsens. Generally in such positions the player would rather skip making his move if he/she could, but that is not how chess works, it is a sequential game. Karpov used 'zugzwang' as a weapon better than anybody else in chess history. Digressions aside, whatever decision PCB or BCB takes now, their hand will get worse. Edited February 1 by Gollum
mishra Posted February 1 Posted February 1 As per media, as per ICC, PCB has not officially intimated its decision to ICC, However ICC has formally told PCB that ICC has understood now that PCB will pull Out of the game and must reconsider . Hope PCB tells to ICC , eff off! Thoonk kar chaatate nahi hai. Please please please
Austin 3:!6 Posted February 1 Posted February 1 India should have some self respect and not travel to Sri Lanka. Also, ICC should show some balls and ban Pakistan from this entire WT20. They have no ground to pull off. Why is ICC trying to appease them? putrevus 1

If they want to take official route, ideally ICC should ask Pakistan about the reason why they are boycotting, then asking them to give their final stance before WC starts. Pakistan will definitely try to milk this thing till 15th Feb Gollum, Suhaan and bowl_out 3
tapandrun Posted February 1 Posted February 1 (edited) Pcb has not yet told the final decision whether they are participating or not, but the way ICC has acted promptly on this may not turn out a good decision by pcb. If pak team participates and does nt win the cup its in a lose-lose situation. They are looking down at sanctions at a broader level or shadow banning. Even if they play vs Ind it will be like a taking a step-back they would have to beat Ind to salvage some pride similar situation of how Ind team was in Asa cup. The decision is not logical, one of pcb's team pak u-19 played one of bcci's team Ind u-19 on the same day when the decision was made and nothing has change in terms of gvmtl relations in last 24 hrs so decision does not back-up. Ind team will travel to the venue on the game day wait for refree to call it off and get walk-over point and then ICC will/can take the next step, but if Icc gets confirmations from pcb then there is no need to travel and match will be called-off with Ind getting the point and Icc to take the next steps. As fr broadcaster, nt sure what happens but these matches are insured, they may lose of profit as mentioned Ind pak match can contribute any where from 15-25% of total broadcaster's revenue from the event. The % is not driven by pak team but by Ind team. If Ind progresses further in the tournament that % comes closer to 15 %. Broadly all the earinng are from Ind matches and some from Eng Vs Aus, and some other Eng games that's it. Edited February 1 by tapandrun

tapandrun Posted February 1 Posted February 1 20 minutes ago, Gollum said: No if the decision was already made and intimated officially by pcb, there will be no need to do so. Its just a table top story or a scenaio that bcci may be working on incase there is no formal communications from pcb. This is just to show bcci has no issue with playing the match

Think icc sent out a response to the news, that they are asking pcb for clarification and to reconsider and there can be repercussions. Not sure if pcb has made any formal comment whether they are participating or not Icc have to give a chance for pcb to reply back and hear out the issue, though the things are obvious, these all the processes to follow. So that pcb does not come up saying "Icc was against us all the time they wanted this to happen" Edited February 1 by tapandrun Austin 3:!6, mishra and raki05 2 1

Broadly all the earinng are from Ind matches and some from Eng Vs Aus, and some other Eng games that's it. All organisations take an insurance on these type of events. The full loss is not covered but there is an attachment point. What it means is any loss above a certain threshold will be covered. ( Note: Most of these are taken for weather related events like a storm cancelling the indo pak match. The ad guys take this into account while agreeing to pay for the slots. They wont be paying premium money to show ads during previous wc highlights which are normally shown during rain or storm delays. ) So lets say attachment point is 50 crores and ICC expected 200 crores. So incase there is a forfeit and rain delay ICC will bear first loss of 50 crores and will get paid 150 crores. Basically 50 crores is the excess in easy language. So yeah ICC will make a loss but it ll be curtailed unless the insurance companies invoke force majeure clause ( act of war etc for example that Kings 11 IPL match during the skirmish) but as far as this goes it wont stand. Its a good % but not that much for broadcaster specially for ICC events, in Asia cup yes it the main gig, apart from few Ind games. Asa cup Ind vs Pak is like 65-80% of total revenue. The broadcaster was sony which does not have any other big series and largely you need competition and have multiple broadcasters thats why asa cup went on. Do not think bcci takes anything from asa cup but redistributes to other boards. which is main source for some smaller boards. As for icc-events the revenue frn Ind pak ranges from 12-25% for broadcasters, an as Ind progress further into the event that % gives towards 15% not much really in the scheme of thing but its like insurance policy. As for news /yt etc channels this all this hype is mystery about revenue is made-up, much more to do with bringing their own sponsors for the event for their sports desk. yters just create hype without knowing much. May have heard or seen programs where proper test players telling balls are rigged with chips, pitches are changed, balls are different, do not think test players are stupid they just say to bring attention any attention is good. Their channels my be asking them to say something be it something that does not make sense. For news sports desk this is the only game that matters largely where a casual fan will watch a cricket related news. Edited February 1 by tapandrun
