Your second question is interesting. In Mumbai you have 3 star hotels in and around the Wankhede. They would cost you what a 4 star would at Ahmedabad. There are also tons of airbnb options. In Ahmedabad there is a huge fall in standard after 4/5 star hotels. Or so I hear. And every time a game is announced people book everything from hotels to flights to cabs to game tickets only to resell it. BCCI (or at least some of the members) are in on this racket. Ideally prices should be capped. for hotels and match tickets. For the cold play concert we flew in, took a cab to the concert. Had pre booked a taxi to return to Mumbai. We have a manufacturing unit at Ankleshwar which has a shared guesthouse with other mfg unit owners. Stayed there for the night. Had a very late brunch, and left for Mumbai from there. People I know had paid 20k for a room with a basic double bed, around 15kms from the stadium and where they discovered that hot water was available, but only in buckets!

This is for routine test or odi. B) Fair enough. Last went to Dy patil a decade ago for ipl. Wankhede for ranji. Reached via Nerul station. C) Mca stadium?

Not many actually care about the history of Eden Gardens and Chepauk. The locals may care ... It is not Wimbledon. Cricket has many iconic grounds which unfortunately Eden Gardens and Chaupak are not relatively speaking despite their history.

Totally decrepit. Unusable toilets, even the hospitality ones. All round neglect. Chepauk is a modern stadium. Great fans. Great facilities and transport options. Chepauk has to be in India’s best 3. As a foreigner I will give you my two rupees worth at stadiums I have been to in India Chepauk : This was ten years ago and my first visit to India , within the little complex it sits in various sport facilities like swimming , squash ( watched the Indian no 1 at the time training , she played man after man it was impressive) etc are there on site , the stadium felt good not just a concrete bowl with the added private Madras Cricket Club within the stadium where I stayed with it's seating verdandas it broke it up to look like stadium. Vadodara: a mini Modi stadium ( 50, 000) just a concrete bowl with no character , 24kms outside Vadodara reached on the most horrendous road where you go 3kms past it and turn back on a dirt track , cars, motorcycles and scooties all parked in muddy fields DYPatel : old stadium but I did enjoy the walk through the campus with no traffic and I did two interviews for DYPatel stadium and some you tuber much to my Ranji Trophy Indian mate jealousy Eden Gardens : this is worst , needs completely modernised, everything felt and looked bad about it but had more catering available than any other . The biggest plus about it for me was the locals were the most friendliest I must have had about 200 selfies taken , children and men just wanted their photo with me taken . Ahmedabad: Yes it's big but I find it a concrete souless place , seats are crushed together , every ground I have been to 2 security checks and you are at your seat , at Ahmedabad it is 7 checks and the " stewards " think they are the gastapo. It's handily situated at edge of city , metro stops outside but I found it to be a concrete dust bowl . To the rest of you Indians people of Ahmedabad think they are the centre of the cricketing world now. Rajkot " my favourite, yes it's small by Indian standards but it felt like a proper stadium not a concrete bowl , outside it's bright and airy with space , this stadium I got the whole guided tour everywhere as my best Indian friend is Saurashtra hall of famer , 12kms outside Rajkot but the road was great . Ahmedabad as a city is not geared up for a huge influx of visitors , apart from a handful of hotels 90% of them are on the ring road well away from the centre , all those 3/4* hotels are geared up for mainly business people with very little facilities like a swimming pool , space outside etc . Ahmedabadiens are boasting that a proper 5* hotel is going to be built for the commonwealth games ...wow Vk1, Mariyam, putrevus and 1 other 2 1 1

Experience of watching a game is superior at DY patil and Pune compared to Wankhede for me. Latter has great background scenery and it gets very cool in the evening. Seats too cramped and gets too crowded. Big advtg of Namo stadium is that unless it's an Ind Pak game or a match like Sundays tickets will always be available and reasonably priced at that, better facilities too because it's new. Spending 20K+ for black tickets to see a match at Wankhede is not worth it, the quota is very high for physical tickets that are not sold online which is an issue because of limited capacity. In T20s the innings break is barely 10 mins and players need to warm up, take practice catches, get acclimated to fielding & batting under lights and the laser show doesn't allow them to do that. IMO they should've pushed the laser show to after the end of the match just like the drone show. Hope we do so moving forward bot in internationals and IPL. Nothing should impact the actual game or gameplay and laser show in the middle of an innings break does it. Frustrated 1
