jf1gp_1 Posted March 31 Posted March 31 Used to like him at one point but he has over done it. Just doesn't shut up any more. Constant garbage. I don't just change language but at time even shut down broadcast. He is constantly on air so I assume people in general like his style but who likes that garbage.
Mariyam Posted March 31 Posted March 31 I Siddhu 240 deliveries , 300 Sher Shayari at Sanju Samson strike rate. Exactly what the IPL needs. punjabi_khota and zen 1 1
maniac Posted March 31 Posted March 31 I can’t tell if Siddhu is an extremely intelligent man or just your average lowest common denominator “entertainer”. despite sounding intelligent and articulate, on top of that being a career politician, don’t think I have ever seen Siddhu participate in any intellectual social or political debates and show us his knowledge and articulation. His linguistic skills and wit are limited to cringe IPl commentary and Kapil Sharma comedy show. the good: his grasp on languages be it English or Hindi is extremely good. He can bust out phrases, poems, philosophical sayings at the drop of the hat. That’s one incredible talent. the bad: your knowledge is only as good as the context in which you use: the best commentators out there be it Bishop, Ian Smith or to even a small extent a professional like Harsha (as cringe as he can be) know the value of keeping quiet or silence at times. You don’t have to blabber or crack a joke at everything or say something over the top. Suhaan 1

I think first time I saw Siddhu commentate was around the 2000 CT the one where we lost to Nzl in the finals. he was extremely enjoyable and a fresh of breath air. by the 2nd series I saw him commentate, it felt he was good in doses but after a while it felt tiresome: by the 3rd series, it became a full fledged gimmick and cringe fest but still had some moments. now after watching him in comedy shows and his political flip-flops, can’t take him seriously as a person or a cricket expert. Even the humor looks stale. Basically has become an irritant. nevada and jf1gp_1 1 1

Hindi commentary = Siddhu for me. He continues to remain total fun. At times, he even guides other commentators with the right proverbs. Mariyam 1

He revealed his true nature when he was in bigg Boss. One of the calmest, most well spoken person who thought twice before saying anything to anyone and remained calm and true to himself throughout the show and the stress it brings. Also had real nuggets of wisdom and never tried to be funny.

deepdynamo Posted April 2 Posted April 2 India need new credible english commentators. Bhogle, Shastri, Manjerkar, Gavaskar-the so called veterans & elites- are done & dusted. Same old cliches, stale humour, cringefest & tiring on ears. The less said about others ( DeepDas, Murali Kartik, DK, Mukund, Anjum etc), the better. Hindi is completly **** show except for Irfan Pathan and maybe Ajay Jadeja. We need a complete overhaul.
Mariyam Posted April 2 Posted April 2 BCCI should give limited contracts to 'guest' commentators. A good start would be Shashi Tharoor (English), Shatrughan Sinha (Hindi), Raj Thackeray (Marathi).

Best orator in Hindi in my opinion is Ashutosh Rana. His command on language is impressive.

Shatrughan, Raza Murad, Naseeruddin and Ashutosh Rana are one notch lower. Shatrughan's voice is more suited to commentary.
