BacktoCricaddict Posted April 4 Posted April 4 It's a single test. One-off. Win and you get declared GOAT team. Assume stadium Venue is perfect - fast, even bounce, swing early, then something for everyone - batsmen, pacers, spinners. Toss will not matter. Ball brand will not matter. You get to consider only the peak of each player. My 3 seamers based on this are: 1. Peak Bumrah (No brainer) 2. Peak Kapil Dev (swing and AR ability) 3. Peak Zaheer Khan (had a tough time picking him over Srinath, but went with variety)
JaFanatic Posted April 4 Posted April 4 Bumrah Shami Kapil. Shami trumps Zak and Srinath for me express bowling and BacktoCricaddict 2
Ultimate_Game Posted April 4 Posted April 4 Bumrah and Kapil walk into the team. The third choice will be between a peak Shami and peak Zaheer.
G_B_ Posted April 4 Posted April 4 Bumrah Kapil dev Srinath I feel people underappriciate how much Srinath held indian pace bowling together in the 90s. Dev was fading at this point. Zaheer and Shami would be 4 and 5 on my list. Stan AF 1
Sooda Posted April 4 Posted April 4 If we are talking just pace bowling and not all round abilities, so not taking into account team balance... Bumrah is the goat, I would say Shami is comfortably second, then for variety and the left arm angle I think I would rather have peak Zaheer than any one else

Sooda Posted April 5 Posted April 5 11 hours ago, goose said: this forum never ceases to amaze ! Well I went for ishant too and over Kapil. I do think LATTER DAY Ishant 2.0 was better than Srinath. Not Zaheer. We're not judging entire career here. I think the question is to choose three pacemen at their absolute peak/best that post county cricket ishant has a very very strong shout offering a unique threat https://www.indiancricketfans.com/topic/138711-you-are-asked-to-pick-3-seamers-for-your-all-time-india-test-team/#findComment-5359833
maniac Posted April 6 Posted April 6 based on variety Bumrah Kapil (Allrounder and also gun fielder, most of our fast bowlers are crap in the field) Zaheer (left armer) if we use Kapil the batsman and go with 4 seamers than tie between Srinath and Shami. Srinath would be a different beast with the current day support. A prime Ishant the workhorse is another underrated candidate. singhvivek141 1
The Realist Posted April 6 Posted April 6 (edited) Would go for combo of youth and unknown/x factor to trick opposition and pick 3 from below: Anshul Kamboj Harshit Rana Akash Deep Mukesh Kumar Edited April 6 by The Realist singhvivek141 and maniac 2
singhvivek141 Posted April 6 Posted April 6 (edited) Bumrah & Kapil Dev are lock in Third is a contest between Shami & Srinath. Bumrah brings accuracy & seam movement. Kapil is the new ball merchant and a top tier allrounder. Shami brings in reverse swing & seam movement, Srinath bring in bounce and pace. Srinath is more skillful, Shami is more mentally tough. In my view Srinath edges ahead, slightly, courtesy of his more all round skill and height. Plus, bowling alongside Bumrah & Kapil he will be able to get the support which he lacked throughout. Zak is good choice, but he is behind the above four. Edited April 6 by singhvivek141
bsriharsha Posted April 6 Posted April 6 Kapil doesn't come into this discussion. He's a proper all-rounder and hence would anyway be picked
vishalvirsingh Posted April 6 Posted April 6 BOOM, ZAK and Srinath- these are the 3 best pacers produced by INDIA.
