AKane Posted June 7 Posted June 7 I hope Sarfaraz does well.... he should focus on the IPL where even a limited player like Dinesh Karthik was able to do very well. India A tours are one thing but from there it is a long way to the test team and with the current powers that be it is difficult. Focus on IPL, earn enough and take care of family. nevada 1
putrevus Posted June 7 Posted June 7 Confidence shown by selectors, captain and coach plays a vital role in any player's performance. Sarfraz was not given any such assurances. These two bozos have ruined his career. Lord 1
tapandrun Posted June 8 Posted June 8 Sarfaraz's name has been in discussions for India selection for a very long time. Even during the tenure of Chetan Sharma and Rahul Dravid, his non-selection was a major talking point. At the time, selectors and team management reportedly communicated with him, saying that his opportunity would come, yet he was still overlooked on multiple occasions. Because of that, putting the entire blame for his non-selection on the current team management and selectors is not entirely fair. As some posters here have mentioned, it appears that the decision-makers do not view Sarfaraz as a strong player against high-quality pace bowling, which has kept him on the fringes of the Test squad. So far, he averages 37 from his first six Tests, all of which have been played in India. The perception may be that he is unlikely to make the strongest XI for SENA tours. His situation is also not as unique as it is sometimes portrayed. Mayank Agarwal faced a somewhat similar scenario. He scored four Test centuries and averaged over 41 as a Test opener, yet once the team management concluded that he was not ideally suited for SENA conditions, he quickly fell out of favour despite having a stronger Test record than many players who received extended opportunities. tweaker and nevada 2

Imagine being Gill, Rohit and having to deal with this fellow on tours.... can take a toll on your nerves. Only guy who could have handled him was peak Kohli. He could have given it back to him.
vvvslaxman Posted June 8 Posted June 8 Kishan and Iyer were also sidelined by these goons. They managed to stage a come back. So Sarfraz has to keep persisting. But given the way Jaiswal was treated there is no guarantee. He will have to have a vaibhav sooryavanshi level IPL. Sai Sudarshan has back to back 700 run series. Was the highest run getter in India A series against SA A and Australia A. If you deliver where there are a lot of eye balls you can come back. Kishan also came in by accident. Even Sanju was sidelined. He staged a come back with 3 stellar performances. So he has to do something like them whenever he gets a chance. AKane 1

Similar stories are there for dhoni and Mishra which mishra later denied said dhoni helped him play. Same stories are for Kolhi and kuldeep where he was dropped out of favours and even in Ipls was not getting much games.

Kishan was dropped by Drvaid and his management , kishan was not sidelined he thought he was not getting game time and thought that he is just travelling with the side so he said he want to leave the side mid-series and went on mental health break. Rishab also raised the concerns about being only on the bench in Odis as well. Iyer not sure why he fell out of favours but he is now the captain of t20i side and vc of odis and he too was dropped under dravid's management, How is jaiswal's treatment anything to do and wht treatment ?? Sanju was sidelinned for Gill who board think is future all format captain nothing to do with tm as these decisions are above tm and selectors levels. Edited June 8 by tapandrun rollingstoned 1

No player alive will be begrudging for getting dropped if they properly communicate with them and also selection is legit and not based on whims of head coach or captain. When you are selecting a group of players, some players who are on threshold might miss out. Question here is different, Sarfraz was good enough when Kohli and Rohit were in the team but he is not even in India A team now. How can anyone justify Sarfraz being out when guy like Jurel is playing as batsman. tweaker 1

And even after doing all that hard work and qualifying, the outsider tag will there. Instead of struggling like a second class citizen in England, Sarfu can invest in coaching from a T20 specialist coach like Amre to help him have a good IPL career.

urbestfriend Posted June 9 Posted June 9 Unfortunate for him that he is perfoming at wrong levels..This committee looks at IPL batting for the selection of tests..You might have scored many tons in domestic , but IPL score is all the matters. No wonder Smaran, Yash rathod, Sarfu etc are no where in the pecking order. nevada and Ultimate_Game 2

putrevus Posted June 10 Posted June 10 It is really sad and stupid, if test selections are based on IPL.Sarfraz does not provwe that he can play in test cricket by playing in IPL. If future test selections are done based on IPL then test cricket in India will be history.
