tapandrun Posted July 1 Posted July 1 (edited) He is limited in his stroke making nearly 0 off-side game , for a mo batter he can not push the ball into gaps for easy 4s. For him to play at high sr he needs to hit risky shots and he knows it and when the situation becomes dicey situations he just starts blocking due to lack of risk free shots and then there is no way out of it. Not sure clutch based on 1 game where Ind was chasing modest 147 for the target is right match to judge, both sanju and him kind of dig the holes for themselves, both were unable to score in that game quickly enough and if that innings of Dube didnt come Ind migh have lost the game. Which shows the kind of tuk-tuk or stucked innings is not even good enough to chase down 140ish targets in T20s. For 1 innings he has played a lot of this getting stuck kind of innings in various formats across various tournaments -- ipls/ t20is/ T20i wc/ Emerging Asa cup/SL-A. Ultimate_Game Posted July 2 Posted July 2 20 minutes ago, diga said: ,lsame reason for Rohit Sharma, Rayadu Regionalism is bane of our nation. People support folks from their region knowing fully well they're not good enough. That was the reason why Bhogle biggied up KS Bahrath's innings of 20 while remaining quiet when Jurel scored a 100 the very next game after taking Bharath's spot. You have people supporting an over the hill 40 year old Rohit Sharma talking up their "catching skills" and "reflexes" just because they're from their region/state. That's the reason India still lags behind and under-achieves at global level coz that's how majority of folks work. They would rather fail favoring people from their region/state/caste instead of meritocracy. Norman 1
maniac Posted July 2 Author Posted July 2 Tilak Varma saved India from generational beizatti. Losing 2023 World Cup is our biggest humble pie moment in cricket but imagine had we lost the Asia cup final: After the boycott outage post op- sindoor, after the. No- hand shake controversy, after all the aeroplane gestures by Pak bowlers, the racist abuses etc had we lost the Asia cup final that would be generational humiliation. for the clutch final knock alone, he should be given a 5 yr contract across all formats where he can play in the X1 whenever he feels like. Period!!! I mean look at Tilak Varma’s record ffs. It’s stellar. A lot of lalluer players have gotten all the fame and fortune for being part of historic moments for India like case in point some of the 1983 wc winners or even 1985 WSC winners. No language or regional bias, Tilak Varma is one of the clutchest players in Indian cricket history, clutch points add up 1000x to his talent. i feel he can replicate the Kohli MCG knock or come close which is the greatest T20 knock I have ever seen. I would say Samuels one is close but that was against a weaker SL attack in sc conditons so Kohli’s knock all the way especially since it came against 140+ phaaasht bowlers on MCG tough conditons . In terms of stakes Tilak’s knock was easily extremely clutch. i believe in the Star boy Tilak and so should you Norman, Gollum, rollingstoned and 3 others 2 4

Your view is myopic, if you think my opinion is based on solely regionalism, you are being the one biased to Tilak Is Ben Duckett Telugu? Or is Narendra Modi from my state or caste? Kuch bhi.
maniac Posted July 2 Author Posted July 2 When I support Rayudu people say it’s because of regionalism. But then Rayudu isn’t from my caste. when I support Ishant Sharma people said I was biased because he is Brahmin. However Ishant is a Punjabi and I am not. Rohit Sharma is 3 200 scoring player , generational slip fielder, fine off spin prospect as good as Swann in his youth, 2 ICC tournament and 5 time IPL winner, IPL hattrick taker but apparently it all comes down to personal bias To kisko support karoon my take is on pure cricketing acumen

diga Posted July 2 Posted July 2 Step 1: Hype a Telugu player as the next "clutchest player since Kohli" Step 2: Conveniently ignore their flaws (like Tilak getting stuck turning down singles or having near-zero off-side game, as @tapandrun pointed out) Step 3: Scream "Myopic bias!" the second someone mentions regionalism.

Answer2: every Indian batsman has flaws. Abhishek- Samson can’t play moving ball, Kishen can be very scratchy too, Iyer can’t lay short ball- can go on and on answer 3: proof of looking at things in a myopic way provided in step 1 and step and. No regionalism
Gollum Posted July 2 Posted July 2 Still a very good pace hitter, his struggles are mostly against spin. Back him to come good in 2028 Australia. Anyway don't overload the team with hyper-aggressive players, can backfire on a track like MCG...build your team as per conditions. Right now, he could do with a break. Playing non-stop cricket for the last year or so...even these A matches. Iyer, Axar, Dube, Washi types will be bigger headaches for us for a WC in Aus. Lord and Lone Wolf 2

Tilak Varma saved us from a generational humiliation. People don't realise how big that game was. It was low key equal to a World Cup final for Padosis as Ahmed Shahzad said and matter of Pride for Indians. Gollum, rollingstoned and maniac 3
