2. Brian Lara : A genius, one man army. Unmatched destructive capability.

3. Kumar Sangakkara : Best SL Batter ever. Classy leftie with a fluent strokeplay worth watching again and again.

4. Sunil Gavaskar : Facing most lethal pacers of in history without a helmet. Performed his best against the best.

5. Allan Border : Was truly a genius. Runs everywhere and in all conditions. Only reason he comes in after Sunil is that he wasn't an opener.

6. Steve Smith : Modern day Mr. Consistent. 

7. Rahul Dravid : Out of top 5 because of his performance in SA. Else, he is the "Wall".

8. Jacques Kallis : An Anchor with the bat and a steady operator with the ball. He was the "South African Wall".

9. Ricky Ponting : Dynamic, Aggressive and Free-flowing. Had weakness against spin in India.

10. Steve Waugh : Man of Crisis, and a leader. Brilliant against England & WI.

11. Joe Root : Mr. Technique, his strokes are beautiful and his technique is decisive. 

12. Shivnarine Chanderpaul : Unorthodox yet virtually impossible to dislodge. Spent two decades waging lonely battles for a declining West Indies team

13. Alastair Cook : Struggled against top-tier high pace, but was a great player of spin.
