Must have got a talk from the coach. 143k and Head is late on the ball. Bumrah bowled quite a few at 143 k and 142 k in his after lunch spell. But want to see more yorkers and bouncers when nothing is happening. He used to do this a lot in earlier years. Mosher and MK55 2
Rightarmfast Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 As good a manmanager Rohit is, he is very lethargic as a captain. Its not the bowlers, the captain takes no initiatives. Just goes with the flow. There doesnt seem to be any plan in place. Just going with the motion. Mosher and express bowling 1 1
express bowling Posted December 7, 2024 Author Posted December 7, 2024 (edited) Pant did not attempt to take an edged catch of Head off Harshit's bowling. And he scores a century. Dropped Sweeney too off Bumrah. Not having a good match as keeper. Edited December 7, 2024 by express bowling The Dark Horse, Mosher, Suhaan and 1 other 1 1 2

But he is a damn good support bowler. And hopefully he will get better. good support bowler but just doesn’t have that IT factor. 135-140 pace consistently is a good talent but you need other skills at this level. Domestic Indian batsmen will give you wickets but not enough for international levels. I loved his aggression against IPL players but in Australia n seems very meek. Seems very plain so far: the gulf between Bumrah and Shami to Siraj to the rest seems huge. Umesh, Ishant, Bhuvi are the next level and so far none of the backups have shown that spark to be even at their level. 140K bowlers consistently is rare in Indian cricket and he is a youngster so won’t write him off yet.

One need to be patient with the young fast bowlers. He has graduated through ranks and performed in every opportunity thrown to him whether it's Ranji, Emerging Asia Cup, IPL, Duleep Trophy, pink ball practice game etc. Every bowler had such ups and downs in the start of their career, Shami too had a horrible series in 2014 when he was smashed all over by Warner and Smith. Umesh, except the test in WACA where he took a 5-fer, didn't too much in other games. If we ditch Harshit also like we did to Prasidh, then I don't think we have any fast bowler left in domestics who is of quality. express bowling, raki05, Mosher and 3 others 1 5
vishalvirsingh Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 why did harshit not follow the BOUNCE attack he did in previous match regularly. rishabh is not as good as a keeper compared to jurel...rishabh is 5 feet 7 inches , his reach is too small. evevn if he does well, he shall miss a few catches as he is no kirmani or even a dhoni . jurel is much better as a keeper, if they have to play rishabh play him as a batsmen.
vishalvirsingh Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 Nitish is not a ready Pace bowler- very weak as a pace bowler. 100 percent not a 4th Pacer - probably a 5th bowler. But as a batsman he is very good.

You do realize this is his first international appearance? And if I am not wrong, this is his debut series. For a youngster bowling at this level, he has been incredible. Bossman, you don't start performing from the word go. Give him time, he will mature. His pace might increase too. Suhaan, express bowling and rollingstoned 3
Adamant Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 Rana should be dropped, Akashdeep comes in. @express bowling you were so wrong about Rana's batting, him and Akashdeep combined won't even give us 20 runs.
Nikhil_cric Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 People judging Rana way too early. This is what? His 2nd Test ? Give him time. He's not going to develop playing low quality domestic like Ranji anyway. tapandrun, rollingstoned, Lord and 2 others 1 4

Lone Wolf Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 (edited) Probelm is Rana would have come handy in Gabba contrary to Akash who would have been more handy with Pink ball. But India clearly has a Head sized problem & Akashdeep has shown he can be deadly against lefties from Round the wicket. So he plays next game. Really disappointed with Harshit with the bat. He should have slogger a few rather than defending. Edited December 8, 2024 by Lone Wolf singhvivek141 1

Which is another worrying sign. Tbh, there aren't many quality pacers in domestics, and we aren't going to get anyone close to the quality of Bumrah. Reaching the level of Shami is what should be our realistic target, i.e. a bowler who can avg between 25-27 in Tests. If anyone can graduate from there to an avg of 21-22 is bonus.

He should have slogger a few rather than defending. Akashdeep's performance in the A game was the factor. He gave a lot of runs and wasnt looking much effective, happens when you arent playing and bowling consistently. Plus we also played the game as a ODI. Our problem is such that we have to play one rookie pacer, one spinner and one rookie medium pace allrounder..and if none of the 3 are able to contribute then it puts tremendous pressure on other 2 pacers. In this game, Starc performed the same way Bumrah did in the first..and was ably supported by Boland and Cummins. I don't think Starc is that effective with the red ball though. I just hope TM don't crucify everything on bowlers and make them the scapegoat for this loss. We are better team with red ball as against pink as it swings more. So, unless there is an injury, the pace bowling attack should remain unchanged.
