He is not natural at slips , as he lacks anticipation and soft hands.Nothing wrong in that but he is compounding the mistake by insisting on fielding at slips.India needs some solid slips catchers or you can kiss goodbye any hopes of winning in SA.

Jadeja to Perera, FOUR, dropped - only because he got a hand to it. Really tough chance, and it ends up on the conscience of Kohli at gully. Jadeja lures the batsman into an on-the-up drive and Perera obliges. The ball comes off the edge, has decent pace behind it, he he has very little time to react. Gets one hand to it, but the problem perhaps is his first step, moving to his right.

So that's at least 27 catches dropped in 59 Tests .  Could well be more as this thread mentions he dropped 1 in the one off Test vs the Banglas and 2 in the Test series vs Australia at home earlier this year. I could only find the commentary for 1 drop from those 4 Tests.

And he is such a poor role model for others when it comes to fielding. When you see your hard working captain dropping dollies and commies going on about how they are one of the best fielding units in world, others will also take catching lightly.

There is no excuse for amount of catches he is dropping, these drops will kill any chances India will have in SA.
