New expectation now...

After triangular series, many were expecting to exit from Quarters. That includes me too.. but now expecations are changing.. Given we had some advantages in first two games. Like.. Pak Game: Won the toss Poor fielding Pathetic temparament SA Game: Won the toss Philander injury easily gave us about 30 more runs Here is what i am expecting from this WC.. More likely we wont meet Aus/NZ in QF.. We'll meet either of them in Semis and expecting exit from semis. If we dont meet meet either of them in Semis then expecting to go all the way to Final.. So lets hear it.. what were your expectation before these two games and what's now? Anything changed?

No expectations. So far tosses have gone our way. I really want WI/Zim/Ireland to run us close to keep us on our toes.

As expected, our bowling has done well when our batsman have put on runs. Our batting and Dhoni as a captain feels comfortable defending scores when we usually put good score on the board. It puts pressure on the oppositions and this is Dhoni is really good as captain, something totally opposite to when India are defending 210ish kind of totals and we tend to give it away after taking few wickets. I have told earlier also that we will put on 300 in most of the grounds. This batting is the best in the world cup. Yes, best. We have already put 300 twice against two decent bowling attacks and we are yet to play against associates. I think this team is really dangerous even when chasing. I think we will get better even when chasing. My expectation for them is only from Bowling department where when we play against West Indies, I hope we bowl first and bowl them under 215 at perth. and chase it comfortably by 8 wickets.

I would say his injury cost us some runs. We did not score enough runs against spinners, played too cautiously, which we could easily have scored against Philander. Jab Steyn, Morkel pit sakte hain to Philander kis khet ki mooli hai.

I agree with RKT. Philander could have easily provided us some good balls to hit 'em out of the park.

Australia's batting is on par with us at least? My biggest fear is them. I think if we play to our best we can beat SA again, NZ too. But Aus I am feeling a bit unsure. Hope Ireland finish 3rd, WI 4th and WI knock out Aus through fluke slogging and having nothing to lose :yay: Dhoni raises the trophy once more and this time he is carried on the shoulders.

Nothing has changed except route to final becoming that much easier. Same worries when going up vs NZ or Aus. If we lose to anyone else, it will be an upset.

It's a bad habit. Once I accidentally did it and then I couldn't stop every time I bowled, I started associating both together :hysterical: Now you have reminded me :((

While both wins were good but it does not change the fact that Indian lower order is just awful. There is no batting after Raina, I have no idea if dhobi is done or going thru bad patch, fact is Dhobi other than finals 90 has done nothing in any world cup match. The biggest positive is bowling they have bowled well and hope that continues.

If we meet Eng in QF we are screwed, will end in tears. If not we will be the losing semifinalists this edition. We have ABSOLUTELY NO CHANCE against Aus/NZ in their home conditions.

That's true.. before I was expecting to meet any one of Aus/NZ/Eng/Lanka in QF but now it could well be Eng/Lanka or even Bangladesh .

We couldnt hit Duminiy in first 10 overs so he would have gone on to bowl those overs anyways.. Problem for them was Parnelll.

Playing Eng in the high pressure WC KO is a different ball game vs. playing them in the tri-series .... Ind should be confident against whichever team it faces in the QF

Good points... I feel the same that our bowling is different when we have above par score compare to when we have below par. We need to test bowling when we have 250s in score. SA batting first could have posted 300+ score with same bowling and batting line up and that's another factor.. Bowling looks different when we are bowling first.

Yes but then Philander would have been hit even more easily and if Duminy had bowled in slog covers then he too. Parnell bowled in slog overs too while Philander might not have bowled in slog overs.
