Tailunt. Ah' date=' the answer to everything. I agree about age, experience, trust but I'm not sold on the last.[/quote'] He had the ability when he first came in. Even these days sometimes that talent comes to the forefront, like once a year. :giggle:

Let's look at what is good about him, all his team mates say he works very hard , is a team man n is fit. What he needs to do is adjust his thinking, and ask more of himself, no one thought he would have such mediocre numbers after seeing him in Australia when he made debut, intact he looked like a world beater, a lot of his probelems are related to proper mentoring, captaincy n initially trying too hard and making too many changes and loosing his game. Now with a new captain, him being fit, shorter spells, given a specific role n being used properly he might have his best years, India could have a good attack with Shami if he is fit she has confidence in test bowling as he is great in Odi n has, skills, pace, n is a hard worker, Umesh/ Aaron need to play a season or two of county , Ashwin , AMishra, K Yadav could make for a decent attack

Ishant is a superfit guy, after his surgery he has gained back his speed and is bowling 135-145 KPH in Test matches, Also Virat Kohli uses 5 bowlers so he is able to bowl normal spells instead of being ground to the dust donkey spells.

But Kapil was world class for his time' date=' inspite of that average. He could run through top sides from time to time - the absence of good support bowlers, flat domestic pitches and continuous play without rest ruined his figures somewhat. Moreover, Kapil was brilliant in ODIs, Ishant is bad in every format.[/quote'] Even Ishant has run through top sides and he plays on the same pitches.

I remember watching Ishant clocking 152 kmph in Australia 2011-2012 test series. I was excited and thought he would end the series with 25 wickets, but instead he bowled a lot of off stump half volleys. Clarke smashed him throughout the series.

Ishant had 3 balls in 1 spell 150kph or above and more at 149. Yadav was also clocked above 150. There was a graphic that showed the fastest bowlers of the test match. Guess what? Ishant #2, Yadav #3. Can't remember which Aus bowler was #1 I think it was Pattinson. Exciting times they were. Zaheer, Yadav, Ishant, Ashwin. All coming in good form from home series. Sehwag even said it was best Indian attack he had ever seen. Unfortunately they wern't as good as first thought. :(( The home series vs West Indies before that Aus series Ishant and Yadav were regularly clocking 145. In Aus series they both touched 150, Ishant even more than Yadav. Now Yadav is a 140 temporarily again in tests. He will probably get back up. Since surgery Ishant is now finally again getting back up to 140.

Media pressure too has some role to play in Ishant's performance, after his performance dropped from 2009 onwards, there was way too much focus on his bowling speed. So instead of focussing on his natural ability Ishant tried too hard to become an express quick like Akhtar or Tait and messed up his bowling. I've always felt that his main strength was his wrist position, pace was just an accessory.

At present, Ishant is the best Test fast bowler in Asia and has been so for the last 2 years. Haters gonna hate, but they can't change this fact. :)
