Austin 3:!6 Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 (edited) I mean its one thing to have a test match cancelled due to heavy rain but to get only 22 overs when there was bright sunshine for all the 4 days is ridiculous. Day 2: 8.50am Morning, folks. First the good news: It's bright and sunny in Port-of-Spain. 2.40pm "We've given the ground every chance to dry, unfortunately we've lost this fight today," says umpire Nigel Llong. Day 3: 8.40am Morning, everyone. Another bright and sunny morning in Port-of-Spain. 12.30pm Play has been called off Day 4: 9.00am Morning, everyone. Another bright and sunny morning in Port-of-Spain, but the Queen's Park Oval outfield is still wet. We can confirm that play has been called off for the day at 10.25am. So that means three days of sunshine and still no cricket. Day 5: 8.50am Morning, folks. The same ritual continues. Bright sunshine, blue skies but the outfield continues to be damp. 9.20am Match referee Ranjan Madugalle is in conversation with both captains, I'm told. No news on a call-off just yet, but we're veering towards that. "There should be an enquiry to find out what went wrong," thunders a furious Sir Viv Richards. "Simply not acceptable," he shakes his head. This were no super suppers, no deliberate intent to dry the ground. WICB should be ashamed. And the worst of all is this was the most crucial test match as our no.1 ranking was on stake. If India were to reach no.1 by this where an entire test match being cancelled with 4 days of decent sunshine, people would have blamed ICC=BCCI. No wonder WI cricket is in a mess as its today and all their players die for IPL. Cricket being shamed today, test cricket being shamed today. Edited August 22, 2016 by Austin 3:!6
Bigg Brother Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 Happens..There wasn't any feeling of No.1 anyway.Best thing would be India becoming no.1 after whitewashing England at home.Tired and sick of the same thing being repeated over last 4 years,"England smashed you at your home".. sscomp32 and sandeep 2
bowl_out Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 ^^ Exactly.. I'd rather see India being the No.1 team after beating England or Aus, than being the No.1 team after beating the Windies.
velu Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 Rules are same for all.. Anyway ranking are secondary
Vilander Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 lets screw poms and get the no 1. wait for it, it will be sweet.
KeyboardWarrior Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 @Austin 3:!6 Ghussa kuo hotay ho bhai .... kuch din baad tum bhe #1 per aajao gey ....
Silva Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 (edited) Well. Im more mad at kohli not playing bk in the 2nd test. Edited August 22, 2016 by Silva beetle 1
Vilander Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 They could consider discounting a test match if less than one session is played because of any cause, but then the counter argument could be it is possible for a whole team to be bowled out within a session so how can you discount a whole innings worth of play. But at bare minimum they can consider not deducting points from a team for loosing a rain curtailed game, provided the game was only played to say 1 -3 sessions and the rest washed out.
chewy Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 maybe ICC should become more stricter with regards to grounds that qualify for international matches with respect to facilities and quality of ground staff Vilander, beetle and express bowling 3

bones Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 Ranking in Test cricket means nothing. I don't rate it much, although it does of course show consistency. If I could I would pick a series win in SA/Aus over the no 1 ranking.
Austin 3:!6 Posted August 23, 2016 Author Posted August 23, 2016 Guys my anger is not because Pak became rank 1. But my question is how can we not get 4 days of cricket even with adequate sunshine? An international ground does not get dry in 4 days? This is beyond belief and someone must be accountable. Lets be honest here even if its was a 3.5 days of cricket....India would be still number 1. Sorry its a screwjob and WICB must be answerable.
TheWall Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 West indies Cricket Board is the main culprit...
Lala Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 TBH India dont deserve no.1 spot at all. They have never won or drawn a series in AUS,NZ,SA or ENG for last 10 years. Happy to see ICC was not being biased for this time. Misbah 1

We won a series in Eng in 2007, won a series in NZ in 2009, won a test match in SA, drawn 2 test matches in Aust last time we toured, beaten no.1 test side SA at home, now won in WI. What has Pakistan done? Lost a test match to Zimb, lost in WI, whitewashed 3-0 in SA, couldnt even win the series against SA in UAE. The only reason India's performance looks poor because of BCCIs poor scheduling of back to back tours overseas. If India dont deserve to be no.1.....Pak should bee deprived of test status for losing against Zimb. TheWall, Rasgulla and express bowling 3
Texan Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 I would rather like to see a Test series win in Aus or SA than this ranking. The ranking system is flawed.

Would never win...not at least for a decade now. We couldn't win when we had superstars like Sachin, VVS, Dravid, Sehwag, Kumble, Ganguly, Zak etc. Only drawn a series once in Australia in 2004 thanks to some amazing aggressive captaincy by Ganguly. Now with a team consists of Rohit Sharma batting at 4, no way we are winning overseas. I also suspect that we will lose against Eng at home and Kiwis will give us a tough fight. Our test team is quite poor and lets not get fooled by this win against WI. We will be exposed badly in upcoming 13 home tests.
